Since UPS messed up my launch day order this morning - I ordered again this morning and went to the local store and picked up the watch I wanted. No worries, I'm ok with that.

Now, I'm sure there will be people on both sides of this - let's see.

I go in, am directed to the order desk and say I'm there to pick up my order.

He happily gets it for me and then confirms my ID and he hands me the cheap recycled box Apple is now using for these. Ok fine - save the world.

I wait.

Finally I ask "Could I have a bag for this please?"

He responds "Ooooh, um I'm going to have to charge you for that. We charge for bags now."

Are you F'n serious? First world problem I know but wow... talk about nickel and diming' your customers.
This may be due to local law to discourage throwaway of bags.

‘Why Apple is experiencing is a untrained sales force. They do not charge for bags in America as far as I know. Knowing crazy Cali, one day you won’t even get the box Much less a bag.

This thread has made me nostalgic about shopping at ”The Apple Store” when they were using thick plastic bags that had long gray ropes connected at the top and bottom which allowed them to be worn like backpacks. And I wish I had saved the bag they designed for my first gen iPhone.

What state are you in?

In New York it’s a state law that businesses need to charge for plastic bags. I’m A state gets a portion of that revenue. GO GREEN!!!’ (Sarcasm……)
I live in NYS and businesses aren’t required to do that, but they’re allowed to. At Apple, they’ve never charged me for a bag and this was as recent as 2 weeks ago at Walden Galleria (in Buffalo).

The city of Boulder mandates all plastic bags carry a charge, paid to the city. Apple doesn’t have a choice.
