If anyone is interested. SPIGEN skin.
No it does not cover the back completely. I like it this way.
I still have my 1st gen (wife's now, actually) and it has a similar skin. It's still in mint condition. No screen film, etc.

Not for everyone, but I like it minimal and how it contrasts with the metal.

It gives grip and protects the back when I put it down on a metal table or some such place. Looks nice with the cart cover. Cheap. Comes in a black or brown, and in a few other materials.

I believe they do have ones that offer more coverage.
Sorry for pic quality. Using iMac's iSight.

The bar at top is the antenna strip/cover/thing, not the skin... Hard to tell in the pic. This is the 4G model.

Scratches?

None so far. It feels more durable than the poly smart cover I have.
It's thin, but it feels like it'll last. It also came with clear film to cover the Apple logo.

I prefer this skin too. It is very clean and simple while adding grip and protection against scratches as you set it on tabletops. Personally, I feel the carbin fiber skins are too flashy.

Like you, I like how it doesn't completely cover the curved edges of the ipad. Not only does it look better than a full cover skin, it wont interfere with the smartcover magnets.

I had one almost identical to this SGP skin for my old ipad2 called surfaceskins/juststickit but I can't find any of their products anymore. Theirs was slightly better because it had a perfectly sized apple logo cutout (this Spigen SGP one has a slightly over-sized apple cutout that leaves a slight outline). With that said, I still love this back skin, it matches perfectly with the smart cover.

Here are some photos:

I was looking at these and my question is regarding use with a smart cover.

When in typing mode would the iPad be resting on the cover or it's aluminum back?

From pics looks like the cover would come out far enough, can't be sure though.

Wow, how did you get an iPad with a backwards apple on it?

Lol

Heh. By not flipping the mirror image before I posted it.

OneMike - Never gave it much thought, looks like it's resting on the skin.
Again, I'm not overly psycho with the whole "completely surround the thing in armor" thing so I never thought about it.

Apple built them well. My 1st gen is in mint condition, and it was a pre-order. Used it daily until I got this guy. I just was somewhat careful.

This type of skin is not for the overly paranoid, I'll admit.

Nice, i like the coverage of ZAGG one better myself, especially how it wraps around corners.

But all good, definitely the best minimalist, case style

Zagg

a friend had a Zagg leather on his. Definitely liked it, also a good choice.

In the smart cover elevated typing mode, the iPad is resting on the cover.

Im very likely getting one for my iPad 3.

Anyone taken one of these off after 12 months?
If so, does it leave any marks or damage the back in anyway etc?

I have one on my iPhone but no plans or need to take off - and it's glass so it's not going to do any damage anyway.

Thanks.
