If I had the option, I would. It sucks having to stay at home all day waiting for the FEdex/UPS guy to show up whenver he feels like it. It sucks, feels like you're a prisoner in your own home. Why not cut out the waiting and go get it yourself?
 
I think (don't quote me) that Apple leaves instructions that you can pick it up after the first delivery attempt.
