So I have a 60GB Black iPod 5G...

...as a replacement, and it's in its seal. Got it this morning (after placing the order at 15:04 yesterday...WELL DONE APPLE UK!!!)

It's in its seal, and im thinking about selling it on eBay and trying to hunt down maybe a reconditioned 4G iPod photo of at least 40GB.

I really think the presentation (packaging and so on) of the Photo was soo much better than the iPod I have in front of me. A part of me wishes I was opening the 40GB iPod Photo again. Does the old dock work with the new 5G versions? Can you get a black 5G dock?

I just wish nobody had stolen my 40GB :(

break the 60 gb in gently, and i'm sure that, given time, you'll feel about it how you felt about your stolen pod.

that really sucks though.

i don't thnk theres a black dock

Man I hate a thief.

What I usually do is carry my wallet (or other valuables) in my front pocket and I actually keep my hand in my pocket holding my wallet/whatever.

Especially if I am in a crowded area.

On my trips to Europe, I would also carry a secret money belt tied to my belt loop and hidden inside my pants next to my leg so I could always feel it.

You can use the new iPods in any of the older non-shuffle docks. It will just be supported by the dock connector, rather than the shell of the dock, which probably isn't a good thing. As for the color, you could probably just mask the connector and bottom and spray it glossy black, then probably a layer of clear coat, to mimic the acrylic of the iPod.

That´s the US for you. I would have claimed it for sure (and got the money back)
What do you have insurance for?
Fun?
Disasters?

Actually it is not that bad, though not that good at least here in the US. The truth is that for most policies here in the US, there needs to be two claims against the home owners policy before a cancelation is generally issued.

The idea behind this is that insurance is there for the major stuff. Like when I had $8KUS worth of stuff stolen from a car. Or the $25KUS damage after a minor fire. Not for a $300 to $500US music product.

Yeah, basically.

The thing they do is to make the low-deductible policies so freaking expensive that you can't afford them -- so you end up with a $500 deductible. You pay the first $500 of any loss... which means that the insurance is basically there only for major disasters.losses.

My pet peeve is a $300 deductible on auto glass for vandalism. A replacement window is $290. So the insurance co. pays nothing whenever someone does a smashandgrab on my car (3 x so far)

At least with Nationwide here in the US, some insurance policies are not that much more for lower deductibles. For instance on my car insurance having a $0US deductible for comprehensive (your auto glass for example) the difference between $0US and $500US was just $15US every six months!

My homeowners policy had similar differences. Though IIRC the lowest was $250US deductible. I had ACV insurance. The word of caution here is that if you don't keep up the schedule of goods covered, I was hit with a 25% devaluation of the goods lost.

I wonder if the thief saw your white earbuds and said bullseye?

that's why i'm pretty leery of using the iPod in public, in case I have to, it's wise to use buds that are of a different color. the white earbuds really give you away to unscrupulous parties.
