Yesterday I saw a post by Philscomputerlab about him getting a pre-release board of this new IDE emulator based on the Pico. If like me you’ve ran into issues with dying lasers on a lot of your old CD-ROM drives, then you understand that this issue will continue to get harder to ignore. BlueSCSI already has helped me get my beige G3 up and running again and you can easily get new software installed via its features. But this product seems to offer us yet another avenue of aproach to keeping older macs alive and most importantly FUN to use. I’m not going to link it as this is not an AD but you can easily search and do your own research on this product, “should” ship by September this year.

I use ZuluSCSI on my Mac SE and I couldn't imagine running that machine without it. Although I understand that you don't want to be perceived as advertising a product, I for one would appreciate that if you please share your experiences with the PicoIDE if you end up buying one. 🙂

Let us know how it goes! I saw it and got immediately excited. This would be perfect for my G4 Cube, which decided to have a dead HDD a couple weeks ago, and coincidentally, I don't have any more IDE drives left. I'm not even sure if its ODD works.
I hope they make a 2.5' variant too because I'd love something like this for my PowerBooks and iBooks.
