Every time I've run past this twisted pine tree, I've wanted to work it into a photo that does it justice. It's kind of awkwardly placed on a slope with rather over-trodden trails around it, so my previous attempts left much to be desired. One rainy day, I hiked up instead of ran, so I had time and a tripod on my side. A man with umbrella happened to walk down the hill and into the frame to add to the composition.

I just wanted to let you know how stunning all your pictures are. Every single pic i've seen of yours is simply amazing. I just wanted to let you know my appreciation of your work. Keep up the good work.:)

Wow, composition is great, colours are good, and your subject is both good looking and has a good expression! (hope that doesn't sound wierd, considering your subject is aminor.....it's not supposed to sound wierd....or romantic or sexual or anything.....) This is a goodphoto!!!

One of the many minefields near the dead zone in Nicosia, Cyprus.
It needs some cropping on the right side i think. (EDIT: Cropped)

Plymouthbreezer, this really jumps out at me. Something about the simple white and thin dark lines all over it. cool
Thanks! The simple, geometric lines along with the contrast help make everything stand out.

t1937r0, I only noticed the beer boxes when I was processing in Lightroom... Heh.

Thanks alot! I really like the flamingo--wonderful color.
In reference to Aperture's comments regarding Freebooters work -- all I can say is: absolutely agree.
Thanks, again!

All this positive feedback is very motivational--and spring is here. So, hopefully there will be some bugs, birds and blossoms to share in the near future.

It's a Bird

Have more pride thats a great shot!

I would personally crank up the contrast and the bird should become much more prominent!

Yet, I'd go back anytime.

(I realize it is not as refined as the rest in here, however I am more concerned about the content,... the fact that "life" in beautiful South Africa is somewhat of a paradox.

As you can tell from the taillights and headlights on the street below it is night time. You can obviously tell from all the lights in the city being on as well. ;)

Are you guys touching up your photos before posting them? I mean other
than cropping...

Ewww, yellow water.

Most of the stuff I post is straight out of the camera. Some I do sharpen or B&W, but I only use Picassa right now. My iMac is to slow to run iPhoto with the number of photos I have and I don't want to buy PS until this summer when I get a new one (with leopard).

Anyway, here is mine for the day. No EXIF, too old.
Taken in Lyon, France
