Hello,

I have an ongoing photo project that has a very particular folder / file structure and it doesn't work too well with the way iPhoto sorts things. I therefore do the first stage of my picture organising in Finder.

When I come across a picture taken portrait instead of landscape, I fire it open in Preview and rotate. However, when I then upload the picture to my webserver, it's back to the original. I'm guessing Preview doesn't modify the original.

Is there any way I can either get Preview to actually change the original picture?

I hope that made sense.

Many thanks,
Keir

Preview will use EXIF to set the rotation, and as you noticed, browsers tend to ignore that. GraphicConverter (it may already be pre-installed on your Mac) will do what you need, and it has a nice little image browser built in so that you don't have to jump in and out of the Finder.
