Since Apple promoted the G-technology G-Drive (http://www.g-technology.com/Products/G-DRIVE.cfm) it has sold out everywhere. I am trying to select a external hard drive but I am very particular when it comes to things like design so I would appreciate it if people could post some pics of the G-Drive next to the iMac.. that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

How did Apple promote them? You mean that they're in the Apple Store? Or did I miss some bit of Apple news? Just curious.

It's Apples "official" Time Machine drive brand per say. It's the drive they use in all the videos and ad's for it. For good reason though, they are amazing external drives the highest of quality. I wish I could just buy the enclosure.

Doesn't every 3.5" external HDD require an AC power-brick?

    yes

and from the prices I've seen, these drives are not at all competitively priced with, say seagate or WD.
