picture size (megabytes) taken by iPhone 4 camera

Hi,

The iPhone 4 camera is 5MP but when I take pictures they are usually just under 1MB JPEGs. I have 2 questions.

1. Is that an accurate size of file I should be getting from a 5MP camera
2. Although all the file sizes of pictures are similar, shouldn't they all be the same size?

Mine range between 1 and 2 MB usually, with the average being closer to 1.8ish (eye average). They won't all be the same size though.

Hmmmm, I wonder why mine are all under 1MB.

The average seems to be about 900KB.

I might try a few in the great outdoors (broader and more complex images) to see if they are any larger than the ones I'm taking indoors - I can't see why it would be though...
