i thought that the bigger size of the display was going to alter the iMac proportions but it still look great, in fact, it rocks!! congratulations dude!

Are there any firewire/usb TV tuners out there that works with this iMac?

Congrats by the way. My next monitor purchase is definitely a widescreen LCD (hopefully a 19" for $999).

The screen is excellent - there is for use enough screen space for any design jobs. Someone noted that once you have widescreen you can't go back to regular sizes. I agree with that, so far all widescreen on my macs the imac 17 and the powerbook. Hopefully the 22" will be in the future.

DVD playback was also excellent!!

:D

I'm curious to find out why you have 4 or 5 pictures of the box. :p

Way to go, man. What do you need it for?

Or do you just like wide-screen iMacs? :D

What error are you getting? Is it the connection refusal error? If so, there may be a lot of people on the .mac website.

Another possibility would be what arn pointed out elsewhere, but that was with the Apple homepage. It could be the Apache.

Yep, that's the error I got. Oh! It's working now!:)

I'm using my imac 17" as my main computer. I recently sold my pc laptop and my old G4 tower and replaced both of them with the imac and the powerbook. The widescreens allow me to work confortably on programs like photoshop, illustrator, pagemaker and all programs I use for design. I'm also a radio dj and I also work on programs like protools to do some mixing for air play. And the screen helps on that also. Plus the widescreen kick a$.. when watching those dvds!

I wish it had jaguar on it. I can't wait for it to come out. But I guess we all have to wait until the 24th.

There's nothing like a mac.. my dell desktop will most likely be on ebay soon.

Stupid question, but can ya open up some word processor like word or apple works and see how well a two page layout looks? Is font sizes as small as pt 8 readable? Either widescreen imac or powerbook...

C'mon pb update...;)

Oh yeah, congrats on ya purchase. Too bad it had no jag.

Its blazen

Thanks for the great pics the Mac looks great you lucky dog.....I've played with the 17" at the Apple store and I know how beautiful it is, your very lucky...enjoy the machine.

I like how the box shows it running Jaguar... I hope no one tries to go after Apple for false advertising...

I have just one question... Are there more pixels per inch on the 17" iMac than the 15"? I have a 12" iceBook, and when I look at a display with bigger pixels, like an original iBook, or the 15" iMac, it hurts...

Well hey, looking at the specs (17" 1440 x 900) it seems to be 100 dpi. I think the 12.1" is 106 dpi, so not quite as fine as the ibook. But much, much better than SXGA on a 15", thats only 85 dpi.

Actually, come to think of it, the new pb display is 101 dpi, so its practically a bigger ti screen. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot. It looks nice...quite a bit better than on the pb :)

Wow, i'll consider the 17" imac over a 22 or 23" cinema display anyday! (because of prices of course ;)

I'll stick with the pb for now...but that 17" imac is awesome!

Again, congrats on ya purchase!

I think apple should have made a proportional base to go with it, not making the insides larger, just the basketball part. maybe to like 11.6" or something

i was playing with one at an apple store, and i thought i was going to tip it over just by moving the screen (looks top-heavy to me)

But i love it, i want one, the 17" would help a lot! awesome
