the back plate does not go with the white well at all.

I think the screen on the white iPhone is only an issue if you plan on watching movies with it. Otherwise, I don't care it the black 'blends in'. I'm not going to be staring at my iPhone for hours.

How can you say the back looks ugly? I LOVE it. It's the closest we've come to the MacBook-esque iPhone, that raw aluminum is GORGEOUS.

I don't know it just looks odd and cheap to me for some reason, SEXY would be the 4s with the white glass finish now that things eye candy

Just took delivery of my 64GB white.
Was a little hesitant of going white this time, every other has been black.

Gotta say... I really like it.
Havn't fired it up just yet as having some dispute with the network so I can't comment on the colour tone but the outside of the phone is nicer than I expected, and so light.

I was hesitant too. I had decided on white before the unveiling b/c every iPhone I've had was black. And then there were hardly any pics of white ones online. Everyone was saying slate/black was so sexy. But I think the slate scuffs could be an issue and the white looks crisp and clean. Looking forward to the white I ordered when I get it later today. I saw a black/slate that someone already got, and it does look really nice, but I think they both do.
