On some web sites on my MBP i see a question marks on pictures. what is this and why are these pictures not downloading? thanks

If you're using Safari, go to Preferences > Appearance and make sure "Display images when the page opens" is checked. If it is and the problem still persists, try resetting Safari, clearing your cache and cookies. If that doesn't fix it, the site is likely the source of the problem.
