Can any one tell me what all the pictures are on my Mac,I saved a sketch I had done to pictures and when I looked in pictures there was hundreds of pictures a lot that I didn't recognise is it safe to delete these pictures.

this is a bit unclear so I am going to guess at your meaning...
are you saying you opened an image and then used the markup tools to add a sketch to it and then saved it? In that case, it would save to the default location or last save location, depending. Try looking in Finder at the "Recents" folder. This should show all the files you have worked on lately, and it may be in that list.
As for deleting files, that depends on the location. I cannot imagine why there would be unfamiliar images inside your Pictures (inside your home) folder unless you put them there yourself.

What I did was I saved a sketch I made in affinity designer to pictures,I then went to downloads in finder and in the search bar at the top of the window I typed in pictures that's when all these pictures appeared a lot were the logo's of software that was installed on my Mac but there were a lot of photos of people that I had not downloaded and I didn't recognise the people in them.No one else uses my Mac so they couldn't have been down loaded by any one else.

the default when you use the Finder search bar is that it searched the whole disk. So any images that are parts of applications or the operating system will show up. Nothing to worry about.
You saved to "Pictures" so that's probably where it is. Just go to that folder and it should be there. If Finder is in "icon" mode, change it to "list" by using the view buttons in the button bar. Then you can sort by "Date Modified" or "Date Created" and find it that way. If Date modified or created are not showing, you can right-clock the header bar to enable them. Then click the corresponding header to sort.

Another tactic might be to open Affinity. When it is open, look in the File menu for something like "Open Recent..." and there should be a list of files you have previously worked on. You should be able to open your file from there, then if you wish you can save it out somewhere where you can easily locate it, such as the Desktop.

When you typed in "pictures" in the Spotlight search bar, the finder will show you EVERY pic it can find scattered all around on the Mac.

Have you been downloading/saving a lot of "loose pics"?
That's what you're probably seeing.

If you right click on one of the unknown pictures and select "Show in enclosing folder" you will at least get a better idea of what folder each of those pictures is in. The logos will probably be from the install directories of the software. Also, at the top of the Finder window, you can choose the scope of the search. Next to This Mac should be the option to select "Downloads". Click on that and you will see far fewer pictures to choose from.

thanks every one for replies very helpful and much appreciated
