10.0.1 is out now on Software Update.

Bug fixes and the Ping sidebar is live in the iTunes Store.

I don't use ping, not really interested in what my friends are listening to, since I mostly track the same bands.

This might be off topic, but did anyone else happen to notice that Bruise by Oleander is no longer on iTunes? I'm pretty sure I purchased it on my Touch, and now it's missing, and no refund or anything. Strange.

Genius sidebar / mini-store gone?

Since upgrading to 10.0.0.1 no genius sidebar. Now have a pile of poo instead called ping sidebar, about as much use as a chocolate teaspoon.
At least genius sidebar came up with some suggestions of other music i went on to buy. cant think for one minute any of the drivel or spam on ping will make me want to buy anything else.

People here are too whinny.

I think the new updates are pretty logical and usefull, except the sidebar (I made it vanish).

Still you can now right click on the mini-player and like or post the song you are listening to. Now all they need to do is work in connections to Facebook and Twitter so you can post there and connect to your friends.

omfg apple! give me an iTunes without all this bulls**t. I wish iTunes 4 worked with my 3GS, if it did I wouldnt have an issue and would simply use that.

Lets face it.
Ping - will be, a fail.. but ill still have to deal with it consuming resources.
Genius - NEVER works, although the idea is brilliant, its execution sucks.
Gapless playback - A feature I have absolutely no use for, yet I have to watch iTunes spend an eternity checking every song in my library. Why I cant turn is off is beyond me.

Not trying to start a war here lol, I just feel like I am the average user of iTunes, and while I speak for myself, I'm sure the average user can relate.

Getting an Indie Musician on Ping

Sucks that us indie bands can't create our band pages.

It took me a number of emails to Apple and then I had to wait a bit, but I finally was able to get an independent artist profile on Ping. Note: you have to have your music on iTunes already in order to do so. We'll see if anything happens as time goes on. With no interactivity with friends – not really a social network yet. Here is how I did it:

Whew!

Burning is still in iTunes, they just took away the button on the bottom....File>Burn Playlist to Disc

Sorry, it was late last night. Whatever I was doing it looked like it would only burn the track list which upon insertion would send you to the iTunes download link - guess that was something else.

To the music industry moguls: why should you be consulted about anything, you failed to deliver for how many decades? Sit back and let Apple do the innovation while you sit on your laurels some more.

I don't know about others, but I really dislike the Ping Bar. We really do not need to be YET another social network but for music in our face constantly. I would rather have the Genius bar. It allowed me to discover new music based on what I already have in my library. It was much easier than having to visit the iTunes store and scroll down to see your recommendations. So, what do I do with the Ping bar? I hide it. :D
