I also have this setup (minus the sirius) but if you are not using the bluetooth for calls its goin to function the same way as it does when you have headphones plugged in. The music will fade out. You can answer your call from the phone itself without unplugging the usb cable.

The 7000 model allows you to switch between using the head unit to control the iPhone or control directly from the iphone. I experience some issues when using the head unit. I contacted pioneer and they told they do not support the iPhone. It works fine when I have it switched to being controlled from the iPhone itself. I am extremely impressed with the bluetooth phone capability. I am very surprised at how good it is.

I was thinking about getting the Alpine x200. If I don't need hands free /bluetooth will this unit also charge, play mp3's and accept incoming calls on my Iphone 3G? Incoming calls meaning it would fade out the music and I would pick it up by hand.

Is there a remotely mounted microphone for the headunit or does it use the iphone mic and outputs through the cars speakers?

Glad to hear it worked with the 3G. I have an Ipod touch, updated with the 2.0 software, same as the 3G. Do you see any reason why the DEH-p7000BT wouldn't work with the Touch? According to Crutchfield.com, they only list the unit as compatible with the version 1.1.1 software, and poineer's website doesn't officially list it as supported, but if it works with the new 3G, shouldn't it work with the updated Touch, seeing how they have the same software? Anyone with any Touch experience with this unit? Any help would be appreciated.

If you are referring to the DEH P7000BT, yes, there is a wired remotely mounted mic included with the unit. Sound is output through the cars speakers.

I just instaled the dehp-400ub. Love it for my iPhone 3G. Charges, play mp3's and accept incoming calls!

I installed this unit in my vehicle the other day. While the Alpine with the 2" screen was attractive, the dealbreaker was the lack of a CD player. Here are my impressions of the the P7000BT:

Installation was fairly straightforward, although I had to scour the internet for information specific to my vehicle. If you have "diversity tuning" in your stock system, you'll be connecting the blue/white lead to antenna power on your wiring harness, and taping off the smaller secondary antenna plug. This head unit only has a single antenna input. Stringing the microphone is a little bit challenging - I used another wire to pull up the plug end into the console cavity. My OEM stereo occupied two separate single-DIN slots, so I had to purchase a universal single-DIN pocket for the empty slot. I drilled a hole in the back of this for feeding in the usb and AUX connectors.

The user interface definitely takes some getting used to, and you have to refer to the user manual on the included CDROM to be able to figure out how to control many functions. I like the simplicity of the design, but it definitely sacrifices ease of use. The one big drawback seems to be scrolling through a large list of artists/albums/songs. I'm trying to figure out whether there's a way to jump to letters quicker.

It works well with my iphone 3G. Some advise setting the stereo to where the iphone controls the music, but I've had no issues yet switching between calls and music. What I'm not sure about yet is whether AOL radio and Pandora will work this way. I'm guessing that I would have to switch to iPhone control of music for those to work.

The integrated bluetooth is one of the main reasons I bought this unit. Calls are clear and there's no noticeable echo, unless you call someone who's sitting inside the car. Then you can do some crazy echo effects. The way it works is as smooth as the iphone, and I'm particularly impressed that the head unit actually downloads your contact list from the iphone so you can dial straight from the stereo.

A wireless remote is included, which makes some functions easier, although it feels a little ghetto to use a remote control for something that's a few inches away from your hand.

the single-line display is a bit disappointing, but I can live with it. This HU doesn't feature the childish motion graphics you'll find on other stereos.

The music sounds quite a bit bitter on this than my stock unit. I don't have a subwoofer in the car (yet - I may get one) but it puts out a decent amount of power to the speakers in the vehicle. I'm looking into the blaupunkt underseat woofer as a possibility.

Overall, I think it's the best unit out there for iphones/ipods if you need a CD player built-in to your head unit. I'm sure better units will come out before too long -- that's why I waited until my OEM stereo crapped out before deciding what to replace it with.

quick update on Pandora and AOL Radio

these do work on this unit - but you have to switch the usb audio control to IPOD control.

Also, unfortunately it won't work with my 4g ipod... I could use the AUX in for the audio, but that kind of defeats the point, eh?

Hey fellow P7000BT owners,

I just installed a P7000BT in my car and everything looks great, but I noticed that when I hooked up my iPhone 3G that, even though it says it is charging, the battery is still decreasing? I hooked up the USB cable that came with my iPhone 3G directly to the female USB connection in the stereo, and the other end to my iPhone 3G. The stereo has the little charging icon lit up (battery with lightning bolt going through it) and the iPhone 3G shows the charging icon (battery with bolt, again), but when I look at the numeric value of the battery (shows the percentage of battery left) it was decreasing. Anyone notice this?

Also, my iPhone 3G gets pretty warm when its hooked up to this stereo.

sounds like an issue with the phone maybe??? I don't experience that. Mine charges just fine.

After a few months of use, I still like the stereo quite a bit. Far better than the old cassette adapter solution.

It's still a pain though that the accessory not supported message comes up on the iphone upon plugging in. I wonder if there's going to be a firmware update to the Pioneer that will fix it. Or maybe Apple could do something to make it work better. Overall it functions great, but sometimes it does funny things when switching back to music from a call.

Nevermind, it looks like it is charging just fine.

Stereo is great. Can control iPod directly from radio, or close the iPod program and start Pandora and it'll mute the iPod music while Pandora is playing.

I don't know why Pioneer and/or Apple want the iPhone to be switch to airplane mode when connected to the stereo. What would be the point of the hands free bluetooth that comes with the stereo if you couldn't answer calls with your phone?

I have been looking into getting this stereo for my iphone 3g and while I have gathered that it works fine, I was just wondering if it still displays the message that says that it's not compatible with your iphone when plugging it in.

yeah, still displays the message, then you dismiss that dialog box and use it as normal. There can be glitches when going from calls back to music from the iphone now and then, but not that big if a deal.

I encourage everyone who owns this stereo to call Pioneer customer service and bug them for a firmware update.

... The bluetooth pairs up as soon as the head unit turns on and it holds the downloads from the iPhones phonebook. ...

Hey method84 ... I also have a Pioneer Bluetooth deck like this, not the exact same model, but pretty close. Could you tell me how you got the head unit to auto connect bluetooth when you start your car? I've been trying to figure that out for awhile, and I -always- have to go to Phone -> Function ->Connect to phone, even if the phone is saved in the deck.

Any help would be appreciated, been driving me nuts for months.

I'd have already bought the thing if I didn't know that this would bug the crap out of me every time I plug in my iphone.

DEH-P7000BT & iphone 3G bluetooth only without using USB

I'm having trouble with the DEH-P7000BT and iPhone 3G S using bluetooth only. The iphone is both a phone and bluetooth audio player, so I should not need to plug the usb to the head unit. If I set the head unit source to BT Audio, I can listen to my music on the iphone as a bluetooth audio player. When a call come in the audio mutes, but the phone call does not come out on my car speakers. Even though the iphone is also connected to the head unit as a phone. (Both the BT phone light and the BT headphone light are lit on the head unit).

The way it should work is that I can listen to music from the iphone via bluetooth audio (not USB), when a call comes in the music would pause and I should be able to take the call over the head unit via bluetooth and then go back to the music when the call ends. That does not happen.

This might seem like a silly question, but I've seen people do stuff like this: Do you have the BT microphone connected?
