I've got a Quad Mac Pro, but unfortunately it came with the crappy Sony Optical Drive, which is relatively slow and extremely loud. Hence, I am looking for a replacement.

From what I've read on the forum, the Pioneer DVR-112D seems to be the best IDE replacement (I probably wont go SATA)

Although, I also came across another Pioneer drive, the DVR-A12XL.

Does anyone have any experience using this drive (any info on sound and performance would be appreciated). Also, I'm assuming that this drive will actually work in my Mac Pro (in OS X and XP), right?
