Re: Pismo 500

Also, would you guys say that $1500 was a good price for a machine like that? Now that the Ti2 is out, I am doubting my offer.

The good thing is that this one is still under warranty for 2 years.

There were a few changes with the models. One, the Firewire ports on the original 6 or 12 GB model had a different chipset and they didn't work with some products (FW digital cameras, the little ones). Also, the software was upgraded and I believe iMovie2 may have come with the newer ones. Other than this, they were just about the same I think.

Yup, that's right...those were the only two changes.

sweet..

cool, but does anyone know how the rev b. pismo book does in respect to the firewire controller and the iBook controller..

I have heard the iBook is faster at firewire than the Ti2 and way faster than the Ti. Supposed to have a faster controller.. does my pismo have this? or the slow one?

In respect to the newer ibooks...

Any of the firewire controllers are fast enough for everything but the highest demand during DV editing with more than just the camera hooked up. This may be one of the reasons that the Pismo tends to drop frames in FCP.
