My mom's friend has a 400 MHz G3 pismo PowerBook. He said that he is interested in upgrading the processor to get a few more years out of it. The two that we are deciding between are a $290 550 MHz G4 and a $400 1 GHz G3. Which one would have the most bang for the buck? Does the G4 really make that much of a difference?

In my experience-G4s are much better than G3s. I guess my question to you would be-if you're willing to spend $400, why not just save a bit more money and have him get an iBook?
