Congrats! It's gorgeous. It actually matches my new Apple Watch with a coral-ish stripe on the band. I have a lot of coral colored clothes and accessories. If this color had been on the Pro, with that black trim, I probably would have gone for it. But I was torn among all the colors.

My favorite combo was the one on all the leaks that wasn't released. That was the one that was red/coral on top and white on the bottom. This coral 6 is very close to that.

Thank you. I’m going to use it as my main device for now. I just have to get comfortable with putting my sensitive information like banking,etc passwords on the phone. Funny I have no problem putting this information on my iPhone, but hesitant on Android phones. My S10+ which I think I’ve had for 2 years, I have never put my banking info on. LOL. I need to get over my fear. Probably not any safer on iPhone.

Ditched the stock Pixel launcher for Lawnchair 12 which is basically stock Pixel launcher with tweaks and more options.

is there any benefit to Lawnchair over Nova?

Lol well that didn't take long! I remember my husband used to jailbreak his iPhones as soon as possible.

I still haven't done anything with my phone. I also haven't finished setting up the Xr. I was actually still getting the 13 Pro set up the way I wanted it since I decided to start fresh on it, when I had to abandon it. I didn't even finish organizing my stuff into folders and the folders into different pages. So I've got some catching up to do.

I want to get a sense of the stock launcher before I experiment with anything else. I've spent so long on One UI, and even on One UI, I have a lot to explore. One UI had so many layers and features to it. So far I only miss the mail app. But I'm starting to get used to Gmail. I'm liking the feel of being back in the Pixelverse. This keyboard is the best for me. I love typing on this phone. I tried installing Gboard on a Samsung before. I don't remember why I went back to the default one, which I'm not so fond of. And I'm not overly fond of the iPhone ones, either.

So there's a pretty SWEET way to get a Pixel 6 Pro in the UK from Vodafone for the grand total of £722.

Basically, take out a new contract with them and once you receive the phone call up to pay off your device plan and cancel your contract. The device plan is coming in at £703 for the 6 Pro minus your £19 upfront fee (so £684).
You then have to pay one month of your data plan (also £19) as it takes 31 days to cancel so one payment will be due. That means it's £722 for a shiney new Pixel 6 Pro.

Not bad at all. A bit of a faff having to take out a contract etc but for those looking to save some money then it's not a bad deal at all.


Works the same for the regular 6, which will cost you £460. A DAMN good price.

I got this deal in store. Except I got it for £703 SIM free with a £10 mandatory top up I had to take. Comes with a free google Stadia as well which I plan to sell to take off more cost!

Yeah it was a hot deal a week or so ago but I think store stock is non existent so this is the other way to bag it!

Typical Pixel? My battery has been fine. On both the 6 and Pro I've been using.
It's also the most trouble free Pixel I've ever owned. And I've owned all of them.

Typical Pixel? My battery has been fine. On both the 6 and Pro I've been using.
It's also the most trouble free Pixel I've ever owned. And I've owned all of them.

I agree, so far the Pixel 6 has been outstanding. Even the FPS now works 90% with a TGSP once I figured out what I was doing wrong. Last years Pixel’s which I purchased both have been trouble free minus Google’s software bug where the display would just lock up forcing a reboot. They fixed that.

I read that article yesterday and my take away was: “you say Potato and I say Poe-Tat-Toe”. The skin still belongs to Google and was optimized for their phones. Sometimes these journalists write just to keep the website clicks coming.

The 6 Pro is a genuine two day phone for me, in terms of battery life. I'm in no way a power user though, but having come from a 4XL where the battery wasn't very good (actually just about the only con I can think to that phone), it's so nice to not have any anxiety about battery life!

Not at all impressed with the author of that piece. It's obviously not a hardware issue since the most logical answer is that to conserve on battery when it's that low, the phone is going to optimize to conserve battery and no doubt the fingerprint scanner + the bright screen flash needed to make it work would deplete the battery. Not excusing the programming.. but to even bring that point up seems novice.

Further, the article ends by slamming the QA process. I have yet to run into any phone - especially one that has all new software AND hardware - not have some glitches. Should things get missed in QA and field testing, no. But regardless of the manufacturer, it's not necc. a sign of bad QA. Bad QA would be something that happens across every user and is repeatable every time. That's crappy QA (software-wise).

No doubt the problem exists and it's as frustrating as hell. But the author just seems to be piling on.

Trying to keep up with this thread. I need to stop going to sleep early some nights lol.. maybe I will try draining my battery all the way down tonight to see if the fingerprint works lol. I like to break stuff and test stuff haha. And talking about launchers. I'm sticking with Nova but I've used Lawnchair before and I enjoyed it very much. Like stock for sure with the little extras. If it's anything like it used to be, I highly recommend the launcher..

Google owns the OS, Google owns the framework device too. The fact that they have some exclusive features to their own hardware, doesn't mean Android isn't "Stock" on these units. IMO .

The journalist as such on bare AOSP being a requirement to be qualified as stock, and talks in circles about it almost annoyingly. Perhaps Android One is more stock, and that is cool, but I don't think the Pixel is different enough to throw it into it's own classification as a skin.

TL;DR - Pixel has better telephoto, iPhone has better ultra wide, iPhone is generally still better at video (with exceptions and preferences), the front camera is a tie, as is the main sensor. This quote at about the 12:50 mark probably sums it up best:

These are both impressive camera systems. This competition ultimately comes down to the size of phone that you can tolerate and well, iOS versus android. We need to stop pretending that a camera could possibly pull an iPhone user over to an Android phone (and vice versa--this last bit is mine. 😉 )

And her conclusion:

The Pixel 6 Pro is one of the best cameras you can get on Android but the iPhone 13 Pro has a camera that is equally as good and will keep this competition tied when it comes to photos from that mean sensor.

Seriously though, really well done and worth a watch, regardless if you care about the iPhone or Pixel cameras.

Like if the Pixel isn't a stock Android, then what phone is? Android One phones? Where are those at? Just some budget limited quantity phones not sold in the U.S.?

Was the old Cyanogenmod ROM's now Lineage ROM true AOSP? Those don't seem much different than Android run on the Pixel's.

It is very very vanilla with no bells and whistles and very very little features,
It is painful to use and very boring.....

My personal/main device is the iPhone 11 Pro, and I'm too deep into the Apple ecosystem (iPad, watch, airpods, apple TV) and iMessage/Facetime to consider switching lol, but my new employer asked me if I wanted a phone for work - I won't have to carry 2 phones since I'm working from home - and I say sure why not; one of the options is the Pixel 6 (and I believe it will be 100% mine)

I was initially considering the Galaxy S20 FE 5g as I like the form factor better - the Pixel 6 is big - and had Galaxys when I was an Android user and liked them, but I've never had a Pixel so I thought it would be a good opportunity to try one (and for the 1st time i my life get timely Android updates lol)

Plus I'm into photography and Pixels are great in that department, and I'm eager to use the magic eraser lol

The speech to text feature looks amazing, can be useful for work purpose

I should receive it in 2-3 weeks; will be fun using both platforms at the same time

I tried to use VTT on the iPhone and Pixel 6 to transcode part of what a podcast was saying. Lets just say both failed quite miserably. The iPhone missed complete words, would randomly clear full sentences of text and replace with what it was currently hearing. The pixel often stopped as though someone told it to clear, or do some other activity that wasn't being asked of it. Perhaps they are not intended to do this task, but the idea of these things taking notes for me in a class would be an awesome feature. Problem is, I would lose much of the class as both devices can't keep up.


Reading both of my devices this post, showing the results (screenshots below).

In this example (my voice over the phones sitting on a desk) both did quite well. Apple missed more, but I would have a hard time accepting anyones opinion that iOS is total garbage at understanding dictation.

That said, perhaps I have an accent or voice both phones like. Just saddened neither could really live record what was being said on the podcast I was testing them with.
