I probably won’t pick up the 6 Pro both because it’s going to be expensive and because I don’t trust first gen products but the camera bump definitely doesn’t concern me, especially if the camera is top notch as rumored.
Not at all. Their trade in values plummet because the resale value does. I’m expecting that the Pro will be no different but maybe Google will have a winner and actually market it well enough to get people to buy and keep it.
Just checked and a 64GB Pixel 4 XL would only get $145 towards a 5a and the 4 XL is faster than the 5a!

Can't say the camera bar is a "design flaw", it's more of "aesthetically challenged" IMHO. Will need to see how it plays out. It looks like it will lay down on a table flat without rocking while typing or scrolling which would be ok but pocket ability not sure on. Hand holding? Maybe a slight notch to keep from slipping down while holding it.

My thoughts as well....
I mean what smartphone with a great camera doesn't have big camera bump? None I can think of.
The S21 ultra has huge camera bump the 12 Pro Max has a huge camera bump and the iPhone 13 pro max is supposed be even bigger!
MBKHD said the Pixel 6 Pro did not wobble on his desk either. My S21 Ultra and 12 PM both wobble with smaller bumps.

No it’s awful and there’s no upgrade program either. Something they need to fix if they want to get new customers.
Upgrade programs & trade ins offer crap money anyway. If people can't be bothered to place a private ad to get at least £200 more, shouldn't be complaining about what manufacturers offer.
Samsung was willing to give me $350 for my Pixel 3XL which would have made the Z Flip 3 I wanted in the price range that was my comfort zone for that phone.
Speaking of the 3XL, I was intending to preorder the 6 Pro the second they went live. But learning my 3XL very well could be bricked when I go to turn it on, and Google’s response to people so far is you’re outta warranty so you’re outta luck, that’s dimmed my enthusiasm more than the camera bump. If Google wants to stand with the big boys and charge big boy prices, they’d better shore up their reputation for customer service and support. I’ve got pause for thought with this one. My affection for Snowball the Pixel 2 keeps me in the game.
Honestly the phone looks fine to me, bump and all. Other than it looks more like a Samsung than what I’ve come to think of as a Pixel. I can see that bothering anyone who is not keen on the Samsung aesthetic. I think the smaller 6 looks more Pixelly. Less Samsungish. But I like Samsung phones so I’m fine with either model.

Yeah pixel seems to always nail it with photos of pets. Portrait mode for one is still king.

I'm very interested to see the big battle between 6 Pro with new sensors vs. 13 Pro Max cameras this year.
If the 6 Pro comes out on top with new camera & competes with the iPhones video quality, I would be tempted to ditch my Apple watch and go back to a Pixel.
Apple just has that seamless integration between all devices that I'd love to see Google do.

I think apple with bigger sensors should make a big difference but same with google this new sensor should make some big improvements with their software. Will be interesting to see the comparisons. New iphone pro models said to be getting some good portrait mode improvements with a new gen LIDAR.
hopefully google lives up to potential. I know we all expect with new sensors some big improvements who knows we may not get the big improvements we expect. Time will tell.

I would guess with Portrait shots and still photos, the Pixel 6 will own everything, and be the new top dog. But for video I would think the iPhone 13 Pro Max will rule.
I’ve gotten some surprisingly jerky weird video from my various 12’s, so I don’t know. I’m not sure what was going on with the 12’s and if it got fixed in updates, because what I saw wasn’t consistent across all videos I made. The only matter of consistency is that all of the 12’s I had were messing up.
If this really is a new improved generation of LIDAR then yeah I guess I’ll be upgrading the 12 Pro Max, too, because I haven’t been too thrilled with it on that phone. At least in close ups. It’s been a big improvement over my 11 pro in all the other aspects of my camera phone photography.
My husband and I have been discussing what to do about the Pixel 6 Pro. I wanted to jump in and be an early adopter and get the maxed out 6 Pro. But because I don’t have a trade to bring the price down like I do for my iPhones and Samsungs, he wants me to wait and see the reviews, because there’s just too much money at stake. Especially since there’s been so many qc issue reports for most models leading up to the 6. I really want to believe Google has given this their best. It’s just nerve wracking betting probably more than $1000 on that.
Of course with supply chain issues plaguing tech these days, there’s the risk I won’t be able to get hold of one until spring if I wait. I suppose I could always go regular 6 and leap to the top of the line next year if I like what the 6 can do. I don’t know. Decisions decisions. It’s all excitement and fun though. 😀
That's what people said about the bigger sensor in the 12 Pro Max vs previous gen and it was far from a big difference.

The sensor difference based on leaks are far bigger than from 11 to 12. I would still say the 11 pro to 12 pro max camera difference was still noticeable. As noticeable as it can be from year to year.
Just like people are expecting massive differences from pixel 5 to 6 we may be disappointed. Time will tell.
I'll be buying the Pixel regardless of whether the camera is a massive difference or not. They take my favourite pics and 1 year with an iPhone is long enough for me to switch. **** knows how people can use the exact same phone every year.
We use it because it’s reliable. Apple’s hardware and QC have always been way ahead of Google’s. Just look at the fact that despite literally over a hundred people coming out to say that their 3/3xl got bricked by a rogue update, Google has done nothing to address it. Not only is their hardware QC bad but their support is set up for the phone side the same as it is for their free products - it’s community only. Nobody in the community has any contacts within Google that can get anything done and the puppets running the technical support lines are all outsourced. At least with Apple your phone has less of a chance of bricking in the first place but then you also have resources like the Genius Bar if the unthinkable DOES happen. That’s a huge advantage over the way Google does things and it makes it really hard to trust the Google.

There ya go... I think only two I will ever use on the Android side going forward... I'm sure you will love the phone... End of day after all the complaining that peeps put out and this and that.. Pixel delivers solid experience in my book... I'm excited to see some camera improvements...
That's fine. But it doesn't change the fact for me that buying the same brand phone year in year out feels boring and a waste of my money. Pixels are my favourite phone but I still wouldn't have one 2 years running.
