Well so far it does not appear the Pixel is going to crush the iPhone 13 with regards to the camera. I have watched several comparisons and they are both pretty equal on photos with a slight edge to the Pixel but video and the front facing camera goes to the iPhone. Honestly I was thinking the Pixel's new camera hardware with Google's voodoo processing would make it the clear champion but it appears Apple is pretty good at computational photography too. The good news is you can't go wrong with either one when it comes to the cameras. There are still things I am very interested in though with the Pixel's including Android 12. Can't wait for mine to get here.
Apple stepped up its game with video processing over the last couple of years. I was hoping the 6 Pro would be closer to the 13 Pro Max but reckon we’ll have to wait for Google software improvements down the line in terms of video processing. Having said that, the 6 Pro video is light years ahead of the Pixel 5. Photos do look phenomenal on the 6 Pro, especially the night photography. I’ll be dualling with both the Pixel & iPhone, really excited to get the 6 Pro now!

Both the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro last incredibly long. On our video rundown test, the Pixel 6 clocked 20 and a half hours, while the Pro managed 17 hours and 13 minutes. That puts them among the longest-lasting phones we've tested all year. In real world use, too, the Pixel 6 Pro typically stuck around longer than a day and I never stopped to think about charging it.

Looks like the fingerprint reader is a basic optical scanner. Disappointing security-wise.

Encouraging. One of my biggest complaints with my 4XL is battery. Especially when I want to kill time with a quick game of COD Mobile. I don't need it to last as long as the 13 Pro Max but if it gets somewhere around the S21 Ultra I will be very happy.

In this battery drain test the results of 13 Pro Max is 10 hours 18 mins, Pixel 6 is 8 hours 17 mins and Pixel 6 Pro is 8 hours 10 mins. Effective battery life management by Apple. I’d like to see a few more real world tests on battery to be conclusive.

I’m ready to stop watching videos and get to working lmao

I think we are going to be alright this time …there’s always some room for improvement or else we all stop buying the next phone …well not true for many around these parts ..hehe
I was about to say...speak for yourself ;)

I am going to try to slow down on my purchases though. I was able to resist the Z Flip 3 (couldn't justify it and the Fold). Hoping to resist the S22 and run with Pixel 6 Pro/13 PM/Z Fold 3 until the Z Fold 4. Still haven't decided if I can let my S21 Ultra go so it may stay in the rotation as well.

Here's SuperSaf

Just finished watching his camera comparison. Pixel Pro looks like it continues to be on top of it’s still photo game, very often having better color temp and dynamic range but still lags a bit on the video side. iPhone actually has a deeper feature set (Portrait across multiple lenses, 4K 60 FPS video across all lenses, macro mode, manually adjustable night mode duration, ‘Cinematic’ video). I was actually initially surprised that the iPhone performed better in Portrait mode but after he reminded me about the LIDAR sensor, made sense. The lens flare across the difference lenses and modes on the Pixel Pro was a little alarming too.

Looks like another top tier camera system from Google with improvements in needed areas but I actually rely on alot of the areas where the iPhone does really well (portrait mode and video—also really enjoying playing with the macro mode) so I’m going to hold off on replacing my Pixel 4XL—for now. ;)

Also from Android Police

(Pro Tip, if you know how to do it on your iOS or Android device, have your device read the article while you do work. It is like having a podcast in device).

Display on the budget Pixel
The front of the phone is dominated by a big, 6.4-inch display coated in Corning’s high-end Gorilla Glass Victus. It’s a 1080p, 90Hz OLED panel, and it looks really nice: it’s got those perfect OLED blacks, colors are vibrant, viewing angles are great, and it gets plenty bright enough to use outdoors. It supports HDR in compatible apps, too. It’s not the 120Hz 1440p corker Google stuck in the 6 Pro, but the jump from 60 to 90Hz is way more appreciable than the one from 90 to 120 anyway.
I feel the same way they do about this and hope I am satisfied with the screen on my Budget 6 :) .

Fingerprint sensor
It’s just a shame the one here is a little slow unless you get your finger placement just so: it takes a beat to unlock when you don’t have your digit quite centered. That could probably be mitigated by registering the same fingerprint multiple times, but that kind of hacky workaround shouldn’t be required — especially on a Pixel.

I don't know what I was expecting but I was hopeful that the 6|6P would be better in most of the camera comparisons. I know the iPhone 13 is phenomenal in all photo and video but I don't feel like my Pixel 5 was far behind already. I really thought adding Tensor and upgraded hardware would have been a larger step forward, especially in video. Maybe Tensor needs time to gather data and will improving exponentially.

I have to say right now I'm really second guessing my order and wondering if the 6 is much of an improvement over the Pixel 5 for someone like myself that doesn't game or need all the extra processing power.

Yep. I’m thinking of just getting a refurbished 4 XL or a 5. I’d save about $250. Tensor is enticing, but I just want the Pixel camera and to mess around with the OS.

@jdlindsey7 what I do appreciate..

Google will upgrade the camera software on these devices sold now. Apple will never do that. I still felt honored when my Pixel 2 received the Lens functionality, Night shot, and a few other features that it didn’t have when new.

THAT is why I buy Pixel phones.
100% I hope they bring magic eraser down the line and that would probably convince me to stay with my 5 a year longer.

Damn, Apple is impressive.

Only 4,352mah battery and still crushed the competition. It makes you wonder what it would be if Apple put a 5,000mah in there.

I have to give Apple credit, the 13 Pro Max has amazing battery life from all reviews I read.

But my 12 Pro Max is good, but not stellar battery life, just not 13 PM good.

Hope the Pixel 6 Pro at least gets 12 Pro Max type battery life.

imagine how much it would weigh! I mean my 13 PM is already a beast of a phone weight wise.
But I always take these benchmarks with a grain of salt. They do not emulate real world usage.
Everyone uses their phone differently with different settings and in different environments.
Having said al that my iPhone is always battery champ for me

The difference between the Pixel 6 / 6 Pro compared to the 13 Pro in the majority of these first reviews is a very close camera system for photography. Pixel beats the iPhone in a few camera areas as I expected, especially night shots. Google was never going to outgun Apple in the video area with the start of their Tensor chip, Apple have made improving video a serious priority focus in the last 2 years. However, the video I’ve seen on the new Pixel’s still looks great. Plus when you take into account the price, the 6 & 6 Pro represents phenomenal value for money against the 13 & 13 Pro. Here in the UK, with Bose 700 headphones thrown in with the 6/6Pro, makes the purchase a no-brainer.

With the 6 Pro versus the Pixel 5 the differences are night & day in my opinion. The 5 was a mid-tier smartphone only - a cheaper Pixel, the 6 & 6 Pro are fully fledged true flagships with specs & price to match & compete with competitors. Video on the 5 was particularly dreadful. In fact, I’ve never seen any Company, Google/Apple/Samsung or otherwise that has stepped up its game so far from one single year to another with both software & hardware. The 6 & 6 Pro should have its own Pixel name / moniker as its a world apart from the 5, 4a & 4XL & I loved the 4XL. Google are clearly taking the battle to Apple & Samsung and I’m all for it - really excited what’s to come from Team Pixel now after this year.

You may not need all the extra bells & whistles of the 6/6Pro in which case the 5 might still suffice for you but you’ll 100% definitely notice all the flagship differences if you do upgrade.
