Hi All,

Am really a noob with regards to photography but currently for work, we have a need to take product pictures for our website.

My colleagues has brought a lightbox and a Olympus Pen for this. However, we need a image editor for post processing. Main functions needed would include

- Shadows, reflection adjustment
- Watermark
- Compressing/Cropping image to web sizes

Just like to check if Pixelmator would be able to the job and is the learning curve for this steep?

Would appreciate your advice on this.

Cheers

I like Pixelmator but honestly Photoshop Elements currently has far better "Save for Web" and "Process Multiple Files" features that allow batch processing (size, resolution, format, compression, filters, naming, etc.) of files destined for the web. Pixelmator simply cannot compete in this respect.

I own both and am rooting for Pixelmator to add a similar features set so I can dump PSE but so far no luck.

Pixelmator is an image compositing program like Photoshop... primarily designed for combining different pieces of images together using layers and masks, or for modifying images heavily, etc.

It can definitely do what you want, but it is complicated, and will require time to learn.

It's not a photo adjustment tool. If you're looking for something to quickly tweak photos and export, Photoshop Elements or Lightroom are better tools.
