@GoAndrius I appreciate you taking time to address questions on this thread. I have Pixelmator for both my mac and my iPad. I think they are fine apps. Why would I need to update?

No problem, as long as you keep asking, I'll do my best to keep answering! I may not stop by here very often, but I'm always around on the Pixelmator Community forums so feel free to stop by there as well.

As for your question, in my opinion, Pixelmator Pro has a bunch of cool stuff that make it a really worthwhile upgrade — if you work with photos, there's RAW support, lots of awesome adjustments (nondestructive!), and presets. If you like digital painting, the painting engine is great (dual texture brushes, full graphics tablet support), if you create layouts or designs, the alignment/distribution tools and nondestructive resizing are super useful. And those are just a few of my favorite things.

At the end of the day, there's a completely free 30-day trial (here), so my advice, always, is to just try it out for yourself and see what you think. And if you do, let us know how it goes (because any and all feedback is honestly appreciated).

Would love to see these features added to Pixelmator:

1) Pivot point - place cursor at any point on group/layer/etc. and have it rotate around that point. Sadly, this feature used to be there a few years ago and then it was suddenly dropped. I kept hoping it was an oversight but it never came back.

2) Multi-Edit - capability to select one or more layers and edit them together (e.g. Group X has layers X.1, X.2, X.3)
I would like to be able to select layers X.1 and X.3 and do a Color edit at the same time.

I think both of these would be easy to do and that would certainly be useful.

You mean Affinity Photo on iPad? If you have an early copy of Affinity Designer PM me and we'll make a video together, lol. I know people at 9to5Mac because I wrote there for a while in college and I'm sure MR would love a post about that as well, haha. Lots of people looking forward to that release!
Sorry, you are right, it's Affinity Photo.
I may have been daydreaming today, heheheh!:D

I used to write tutorials for Pixelmator back a few years ago under a different screen name, and I loved it (The original app, I mean, and the writing to I suppose). I have yet to really try the "pro" version, but I did see something added that irked me, although I do understand the teams need to add it in.

That's Touch Bar support. Seriously does anyone find that useful and or faster than keyboard shortcuts? I can operate Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and a slew of other applications without so much as a glance at my keyboard. I tried that touch bar on a colleagues MacBook and I wasn't overly impressed by it. Sure a smart adaptive area is a nice idea, but I had to constantly look down to see if it changed for different tools and what not and I just found it sort of counter intuitive.

But I will say this, the new colour adjustments has me curious to play around with this new version, I have some harsh seascape photos I would love to use to put it to the test.

Horrible black interface. A while ago I asked them to give us an alternative, like grey or dark grey, no way, "our customers like it black, we've made a survey". OK great answer, what about non-customers who would like to purchase it? There was even a web page with people complaining about it, a black interface + a reflective screen mean working with a mirror in front of you, this is crazy especially for people who work with images. So they really listen to people, nice. Consequently I went the Affinity road. And High Sierra only? What a disgrace.

And High Sierra only? What a disgrace.

It's already been explained why it is High Sierra only - if they want to leverage these new tools from Apple then what more can they do? If anyone, Apple are to blame but that is the price for progress and it's hardly a disgrace. Quite simply, it's a new application and entirely your choice whether you choose to purchase or not - they haven't made an existing application that you own become unworkable!
