Ok, so I’m confused so appreciate if someone could help me out.
I was thinking of ditching my photoshop subscription for the standalone Mac version of Pixelmator Pro (hate subscriptions), you telling me the stand alone version won’t get updates and are missing photoshop style features?!

This is hard to fathom. If I want to use this app, I have to pay for a subscription that includes five other apps for which I have no use! I’m having a hard time seeing how this is a good idea! Pixelmator pro is the kind of app that would appeal to a fair number of people who have no need for the other apps in the bundle, but they’re forced to subscribe to all of them. I know I know, other people have said this, but it just strikes me as a very poor business decision.

Well said. Exactly my thoughts. The bundle is odd, and this decision to force it all on customers is absurd. It’s just so stupid, lol. I don’t understand the need to go to this extreme.

“Pixelmator Pro for both iPad and Mac is available through the new Apple Creator Studio subscription bundle, which in the U.S. costs $12.99 per month or $129 per year. A one-time $49.99 purchase option remains available for the Mac app.

Some new "intelligent features" and "premium content" in Pixelmator Pro will only be available with an Apple Creator Studio subscription. For example, in both the iPad and Mac apps, Apple Creator Studio subscribers have access to a new Warp tool for twisting and shaping image layers. The one-time-purchase Mac app did not receive this feature.”

I've been using Serif's (now Canva's) Affinity suite of apps more and more on the Mac (Designer for vectors, Photo for photo editing, Publisher for page layout) and now that those apps have been free on the iPad (they present themselves as 7-day free trials, but buying a license for them in the apps are $0 each), this move by Apple drives me more and more into Canva's arms here.

Their free unified Affinity app on the Mac is also a tremendous bargain.
