    I just noticed that the system log is exploding with entries from pkd. The same four messages keep playing over and over multiple times per second. It seems to be installing plugins for iCal and Reminders and then uninstalling them over and over. I've looked and can't find a way to stop this.

    Also, is trying to download something and failing and then retrying every ten seconds.

    10/8/14 5:32:03.255 PM[10389]: Error downloading resource: Error Domain=GEOErrorDomain Code=-601 "The operation couldn’t be completed. (GEOErrorDomain error -601.)" UserInfo=0x7fd821c356e0 {NSErrorFailingURLStringKey=, HTTP Status Code=403}

    This stuff is slowing down my Mac. pkd is using between 40-60% of my CPU.

    Thanks for the help.

    Solved (sort of)

    I had exactly the same problem over the last few days but initially thought Apple had released a buggy update to Yosemite (only noticed slowness since the most recent update a few days ago). In desperation I performed a shutdown & restart and bizarrely OS X appeared to go through the final stages of the Yosemite upgrade again (taking ~7 minutes).

    Since that all has been well, so it appears to have been the result of an incomplete OS upgrade or a strange patch that partially undid the upgrade.

    I realise this isn't much of a solution but it may be worth restarting your machine just to see if it helps.
