General @Planetbeing has a 6.0.2 (6.1) JB

The official site for jailbreaks is jailbrea.kr, its constantly updated by by Chpwn and owned by MuscleNerd (one of the guys in the evad3rs team).

@evad3rs is the official twitter account for the current upcoming jailbreak.

blog.iphone-dev.org is the official blog of the iPhone-Dev team. And evad3rs will most likely use lots of code from them since half of the team is also part of iphone-dev. So the news with details will be released there as well.

You will not lose anything on your iPad if nothing bad happens. Thus take a backup of your device (do it now, so you don't have to wait the tormenting long wait of backuping). With this backup you have the ability to get back your contents if you should need to restore because you didn't follow the instructions. This is not needed if you follow the instructions correctly, but do it anyway since you are a human and not a cyborg alien.

Yes your iPad will be just like a standard one, and Cydia (an app) will be installed, like any other icon. (cant delete it in wiggle mode). And you can download what your hearts desire of jailbreak tweaks from that place.

This new group, evad3rs, comprises of members that were either part of the dev team or chronic dev. I would expect their new tool's exploits to eventually find their way at least into these prior team's tools, i.e. redsn0w and maybe even the next greenpois0n/absinthe ...

Thanks for the good information. Much appreciated. Last question, if I JB my iPad 4 it should not have any impact of the other two devices running iOS 6 correct?

Yes, redsn0w is the only thing I care about, hoping since MuscleNerd came aboard that means they use him for redsn0w (++ hes rly good at lots of stuff)

Correct. Have fun.
Tip: if your device becomes slow sometime in the future, its 99% surly one or more tweaks that are poorly written or resource intensive. Example Winterboard is a known RAM hog, but I herd it has become much better at time same time devices have more RAM than before.

My iPad has a bazillion tweaks, and it feels just as fast as it would on stock firmware.

Tip: if a tweak crashes your iPad will go into safemode which dissables all tweaks (your device will be almost like not jailbroken) and you can uninstall or fix the tweak which gives problems. :D This is a good thing, it is instead of your iDevice crahsing.

Please don't give advice like that!!!! The guys who are actually making the jailbreak tells people to stay put and not upgrade.

My thoughts are exactly the opposite, though don't hold your breath. Here is what MuscleNerd answered me to some questions an hour ago.

Probably the possibility for an even better jailbreak. If they are tether now (did they comfirm unthethered?) then it would mean they probably can make untethered.

It could be that he can make work towards a jailbreak where you don't need to use your computer. (new jailbreak.me?)

or the best possible outcome, a bootrom exploit (which might be compatible with ATV3 also?) (EDIT: on second thought, don't count on a bootrom exploit, since the bootrom hasn't even been dumped yet)


I cant think of anything else it could mean?

I won't touch tethered jailbreaks. I EXPECT that it was confirmed to be UNTETHERED from the beginning they announced the exploits.

All valid ideas. It can also be a "One-Click" Jailbreak of some kind. Some easy to use software were you connect the device, and just press jailbreak. Ahh i cant wait for the release!! the "This week" tweet by MuscleNerd was such a tease
 
Good to see the devs are excited...hopefully means a very quick release after public 6.1 is released.

I just came up with another possibility, better backwards compatibility with iOS5 tweaks!

Hope we will get to know what he was talking about sometime though, his update might just be silently added upstream and never mentioned.

JB devs don't touch tweak development.

It's either that they have backup exploits, a downgrade path, or an easy jailbreak method like jailbreakme.com

We don't even know when iOS 6.1 will be released so I don't think people should be counting on a jailbreak this week (I wish)
