People actually find 5 days worth of stuff to do in Venice. I felt like I exhausted that city in 1 day at the most.

I was going to ask the same thing, although I found one day a little short. Of course that day started in Milan, took the 8am InterCittà to Venice and had to take the 5pm InterCittà back so we only really had 6 hours or so.

I've spent an entire week in London and still tacked on a couple of days when returning from Paris on another trip. That trip to Paris was also a week. There is plenty to see and do in both cities. We took a London Walks day tour to Stonehenge and Salisbury Plains which took a day out of our London trip, and a trip to Giverny (and Claude Monet's home) which took one of our days in Paris.

10 days is not enough to visit the whole of Europe. Usually we go for a trip of several days to visit a small region. Top destinations should be London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Barcelona, Lissabon, Athens, Prague, Bruges, ... There's a lot of other destinations worth visiting so pick a region or country and do it with less stress and waste of time sitting on trains and planes.

My region- Western Europe.

I'll tell my dad that I got quite a few suggestions saying that 10 days isn't enough for 4 cities. Will report back after dinner!

I'm using it on my trip this Summer too. :)

I've heard good things on this from many people (including women) while travelling. It gets a very strong grapevine recommendation.

Thanks for the link. It should help with planning my six week trip to south east Asia :).

Enjoy, its good fun and cheap over there. Its worth bearing in mind the political situation in Thailand, its highly likely to flare up again.

Also AirAsia are great and cheap for getting around the region if you're sick of buses.

You definitely need more time than that. I did London and Berlin both in 7 days, I think 3 in London and 4 in Berlin (actually, 3 in Berlin and 1 in Wolfsburg at the VW Autostadt) and I didn't have nearly enough time in either city, and if you're planning 4 cities, that's just not enough.

Also, the first day in Europe isn't going to be too productive for most people. You'll likely leave the US in the evening and arrive in Europe the next morning. Unless you're able to get a good night's sleep on the plane (which is almost impossible unless you're in first class, and judging by your price of under $1,000 round trip, I can safely assume you're not) or can go without sleep for extended periods of time you won't last long the day you arrive. I arrived in London around noon, without getting any sleep on the plane (I tried though!) and I think I crashed in my hotel room around 8:00 that evening.

And most flights to the US leave Europe in the morning, so don't count the day you leave either. It's not like you'll be able to do stuff all day before needing to be at the airport. For example, my flight left Berlin at 7 AM, that was fun
