Hello everyone !
So I got a mid 2015 MacBook Pro 13" variant , 128gb SSD and 8gb RAM . I’m planning to upgrade the ssd to the Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB in use along side the Sintech adapter. I wanted to ask if this upgrade boost my system speed and performance ? I have also heard that Samsung EVO plus SSD also reduces battery life for macbook pro 2015. Is it really true ? I also want to change my macbook battery since it is showing 81% battery health.
Could you guys please help me out! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I recommend using the short adapter. Also, make sure the Samsung is running the latest firmware before installing.

how to ensure that samsung SSD is running latest firmware ?
moreoever i want to know if samsung EVO ssd eats battery more than usual ?

I have a Windows 10 desktop where I can check a drive's firmware.

Yes, battery life will decrease by quite a bit, especially if the MacBook doesn't have a healthy battery.

i will also change the battery. Can anyone recommend which low power internal SSD suits me the best ???

I used a SKHynix p31 and short Sintech adapter in both a 13 and 15" MBP 2015 . Both work fine , seems to be a slight hit on battery life , no problems installing Windows via BootCamp .

I used the long adapter to replace the drive in my 2019 iMac . At time , I noticed the ssd and adapter sat a bit higher than the stock ssd . So when I did the MacBook I went for the short adapter in the hope that there would be a bit more air space above the drive . I don't know whether it makes any difference , though . Both computers still work fine . LOTS more good information here : Upgrading 2013/2014 Macbook Pro SSD to M.2 NVMe

Thanks, i also read that thread and how i can understand SK Hynix p31 the best solution for macbook.(in my case macbook pro 15 late 2013) ?

I just used it because people on the other thread had good luck with it and because I was able to get the drive reasonably on Amazon .

A bit off topic but how well is your machine treating you performance wise?(aside from the slow ssd of course)

You could change the drive, buy an adapter, change the battery.

Or... you could take that $$$ and buy one of the new MBP's, introduced today...

Works fine . No problems . Performance is similar to when it was new . But it's at the end of upgrades and may be looking at retirement this year .

Update :

Finally I have upgraded my 128gb SSD to new Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB in use along side the Sintech adapter. SSD performance has improved alot with greater Read/Write speeds.

I also changed battery with new one. Only downgrade is that I can no longer update from MAC OS Monterey on my MBP 2015 model. still i will keep this machine for next 18 - 24 months

Finally I upgraded MacOS to Sonoma 14.7 using opencore legacy after little hit and miss :)
Experience so far is smooth, no crashes.

Battery changed with newer one is giving me 5-6 hours SOT which is not bad considering faster SSD.
