iPhone 15 Pro Max Planning to upgrade?

The question is never "am I going to upgrade?" Of course I am. This is the piece of tech I use more than any other in my life, so having the most modern, most capable device for that task is an easy decision every year.

The question is always "which color am I going to get?" With rare exception, I go with whatever 'black' is available (there were a couple of years I went with white). I'm really interested to see what the rumored orange option looks like though... who knows, I might break hard with tradition!

I plan to move from my 15PM 512GB to a 17PM 1TB if my eyes allow it. I am one who is impacted by OLED displays and PWM, but the 15PM has worked pretty well for me and I will happily hold onto it if needed. Mainly I am interested in the cooling chamber and camera improvements across the board.

I'd really like to see an upgrade to the camera zoom. Google have just done 100x on the Pixel 10, the iPhone doesnt need to go that far because it's it not really usable at 100x. I just want some better cameras, im currently on the 15 Pro Max.

I hope Apple will give me a reason to upgrade this year. I wasn't impressed with the 16 lineup last year. Very similar to my 15 Pro Max.

The rumor at the moment for the Pro Max is 8x optical zoom and supposedly the lens will be moveable, allowing for for the zoom to remain optical anywhere between 5x and 8x as opposed to now, where optical is only the exact presents such as 2x and 5x. I think it will also be nice moving from our 12mp ultra wide and telephoto lenses to 48mp for both. And the front camera doubling to 24mp is nice too. I am pretty excited at this point even if none of it is earth shattering.

Very true, i believe the big upgrades will be next year. There is rumoured to be an iPhone fold, although I’m not sure about foldables at the moment, if anyone can pull it off I’m hoping it’s Apple.

I’m going to hold off for another year I think. I’m still loving the 15PM, works perfectly. I can’t see the new camera bump growing on me even though I’ve tried to like pictures of it, so I guess my only option right now would be 16PM….but that’s so similar as to not be worth the upgrade….20th anniversary for me.

I’m the opposite, i really like the look of the new camera bar especially if it serves a purpose for better cameras. The rumoured orange colour also looks great (although i do wish they would make a red variant).

I replaced the battery in my 13 Mini earlier this year, it still runs current iOS versions very well with no noticiable slowing, and I have no current need for "Apple Intelligence" or AI in general. I will stick with the 13 Mini until the current iOS is no longer supported on it, or if performance degrades, or if something physically happens to the phone (accident, drop, etc). At that point, I will buy the smallest and/or lightest iPhone available at that time, and I will just have to get used to the larger size.

15PM to 17PM. Bigger screen, bigger battery, more RAM, WiFi 7, better cameras, better thermals. A win all around.

I couldn’t care less about Apple intelligence, I have it disabled on my current phone and will keep it disabled on the new phone unless the new Siri is balls to the wall better.

Yep will be trading my 16PM for the 17PM. Want a new color, chose black last year and bored with it. Also excited to see the new screen. I am on the upgrade program so, ya will upgrade

As long as the 17 has 120 hz, I plan on returning to the base model as well. I simply don’t use the telephoto.

probably one of the most boring iPhone updates in a long time if rumours are to be believed. Absolutely certain will not be upgrading - unless the foldable comes out this year instead of next. But we already know what we are getting as I don’t think Tim Cook’s Apple have ever delivered a surprise at an event.

It's quite disappointing if this is all we are getting. I skipped the 16 last year, kept my 15 Pro Max in the hope that the 17 Pro Max would be worth the upgrade 🙄

Having looked at the specs and the keynote again, I'm definitely upgrading. Will be trading in 15 PM for 17 Pro. I will get a better camera system, increased optical zoom, longer battery life in a phone that's smaller and lighter. The price is okay. That's a very good upgrade for me.
