The hugely popular Plants vs. Zombies has received a big update adding several new game modes and mini-games. The game is a big reason why EA paid more than $650 million for PopCap Games.

From our sister-site TouchArcade:
Plants vs. Zombies for iPhone and iPad both received some content loving while you were in bed last night. Plants vs. Zombies iPhone received Vasebreaker Endless mode, which packs in a total of nine levels. The iPad version, on the other hand, now supports Zen Garden, Vasebreaker Endless, "I, Zombies" mode, and four new mini-games: Slot Machine, Portal Combat, Beghouled Twist, and Zombiquarium have been included. The Plants vs. Zombies wiki has delightfully ridiculously in-depth looks on each of these modes, if you need to know exactly what you'll be getting into before updating.
The update is, of course, free for current owners of Plants vs. Zombies. The Mac version of PvZ has not been updated.

Need universal app, no?

Who buys both and plays the entire game again from scratch?

I'm actually thinking about it now that the HD version is up to par with the iPhone one. I really enjoyed playing the game on my wife's iPhone, but now that we have done everything in the old version all we had left was to maintain our completed zen garden. I would actually be willing to replay this whole thing on the iPad as it was pretty fun to go through and unlock everything.

this game helped me through so many boring lectures 😀

wish it were a universal or at least with cloud synching like already mentioned tho

ALL games need to save progress in iCloud now!!!

No kidding! All I want is to be able to play the same game of temple run on all of my devices, just like Infinity Blade II does. Imagine being able to pick up where you left off in a game on your Mac, except now you can play it on the go with your phone/pad!

I appreciate all of the gradual updates and availability on every platform, but what about a sequel? It's been 3 years since PvZ was released and not even a hint of Plants vs. Zombies 2.

I was excited for the endless mode until i saw they should be unlocked for 150,000.

And Popcap, hope the retina iPad update will come soon.
