Am I the only one who prefers to imagine this trackpad has a mustache? I've never seen one of these, simply amazing. You are gassing my up eBay/Goodwill Auction addiction hobby with all these beautiful plasticy thangs.

Oh, wait... plastic fantastic?! You can't get much more plastic than this, even if it is somewhat on the smallish side.... My fairly recently acquired 2400, having undergone some software installation. They keyboard is rather cramped, but it's not hard to see why these became a bit of a cult....

I don't use this every day, but it is used often, particularly after installing Office 4.2.1. It's a useful 'bridge' machine since it has a floppy drive (poorly designed, short and stiff cable) and PC Card slots on the back, and it runs beautifully - including about an hour of charge in the battery.

Only 16Mb RAM, and the original 1.3Gb HD - but a bit of a classic.

That's rad! IS that 9.2.2 installed on it?

How is 16Mb RAM?

To the Club I present a machine that needs little introduction. The original Golden Mac. Of eBay Bargain fame and recently re-setup, of course I'm talking about the Six Dollar eMac.

That's pretty darn impressive for six dollars. I bet it's a lot of fun to play on, even now.

No, it's 8.0. I don't know that 9.2.2 would run on this anyway - and probably not at all in 16Mb. 8.0 is good though. It's actually quite responsive, though I did consider regressing it to 7.6, which I think is the earliest it can run.

That's good to know that 16MB is responsive on OS 8.0. It would be cool to check out 7.6 as well, though. At some point.

OK, I will admit that dragging a PowerBook 2400 into a PPC thread was a bit of a stretch, but I seem to have got away with it, and it's a very cool little system anyway.

But for your enjoyment, I present to the club this almost universally hated - or at least very much derided - actual PPC. It's my $200 barn find, brand new, PowerBook 5300cs. Yes, new, and previously still sealed up in original packaging, 1997 vintage 5300.

But wait, 1997? They stopped production in 1996 didn't they? Yes, they did, but Apple hand-assembled a number of these to go into the extended repair program, and this is one of them - though never used. I have posted it before in the 'eBay finds' thread, but thought it deserved a place here, being that plastic is much of why these were so disliked.

Base 16Mb RAM and Mac OS 7.6, with a 750Mb hard drive, this is having software installed from a SCSI2SD 'thumb drive'.

It runs like new, because it is, though with a 5300 that doesn't necessarily mean much! It is a great little laptop, the battery has about 1 hour of run time, which is amazing for a never before used 26 year old, and its only quirk is that sometimes the trackpad doesn't work when the system is booted up.... and in at least a nod to the 5300's tradition of bad plastics, the 5300cs badge is actually snapped because it doesn't quite fit the cutout in the display panel.

One of my all time faves!

Update to my collection. 1.42 GHz iBook 14 inch in the mix. My 17-inch Powerbook is on the monitor being mirrored.
