Hi all,

I'm lucky enough to have finished my degree and gonna be working abroad while staying at my g/f's dad's holiday home for a few months. I am planning to hook my macbook up to their TV and stereo and use front row to play my tunes and movies etc. The plan was that when her dad comes out, he could connect his 5G iPod and he could access his music through front row.

Tested it out before I left, had a quick google and its not going to work.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a workaround for front row that I haven't yet discovered or recommend an alternative through Plex etc....

Thanks

JNB, I believe he was looking for alternatives to Front Row (hence the question about alternatives through Plex, etc).

OP: Plex combined with iTunesFS and MacFuse might work quite nicely. Just install MacFuse and then launch iTunesFS: the iPod will mount on the desktop as a music filesystem. Launch Plex, and Add Source from the Music section, choosing the iPod (actually, I say this not knowing if Plex can do it easier, so you might try seeing if it will recognize the iPod without doing this), and it should add the music from there to it's library (but don't worry, it doesn't copy it anywhere). Then, as long as the iPod's plugged in, you can access it from the Music section in Plex.
