    I'm regularly working for a research company with the focus on writing transcripts (=listening to interviews and writing down everything that is said).

    Long story short: I need some player for my Mac which supports global hotkeys. I need to be able to write in pages/word and control the player w/ global hotkeys without changing tabs/windows.

    Here's the clue: I need to set global hotkeys to F7/8/9:
    F8: play/pause ;
    F7: rewind for A FEW seconds w/ one push (3-4 seconds)
    F9: fast forward for A FEW seconds w/ one push (3-4 seconds)

    In windows I used vlc player or winamp. Those 2 support "global hotkeys" (and very short rewind/fast forward) but they don't include those functions in the MAC version.

    Do you now any app/program that might be able to do so?
    I'm not any programer so I don't have any experience in writing codes or anything if necessary.

    Thanks a lot!

    This'd be easy to implement with a combination of AppleScripts and FastScripts.
    The later App lets you bind key combos to scripts Globally.

    VLC Player (Mac) includes step forward, step back, play, stop in its scripting library, so all you need is in there. You just need rto write a little code to access it.
