iOS 12.2 is out, which includes playing video on the Apple TV - works great from iOS Device!

Annoyingly it doesn't seem to be the case for HomePod..."Play Paw Patrol on Apple TV"
iPhone - opens and plays video content
HomePod - IF it works, it just plays the soundtrack

Testing other content for HomePod, it tries to give me cinema info, says "I can't do that" and more, but I can't get it to play video...

- Homepods (Stereo pair) are on iOS 12.2
- HomePods are NOT paired as audio out for the Apple TV (I'm using a soundbar that seems better for voices). Should still work though as iPhone isn't an audio output, but works fine for Siri video requests

Any tips?

I don’t think it has any capability to replace a Siri Remote for voice commands on Apple TV....but to be fair, that functionality has never been advertised either.

Haven't tested it a lot, but for me the HomePod controls work, when I'm playing a video and use the HomePods for audio. Then I can pause, fast forward, etc...

Yes that works.....but you can’t search for content and start playback like you can with the Siri Remote which is Op’s ask.
