I got a few games to test the mirroring.

    Ipad 3 to ATV3

Gangstar rio ipad version was choppy not playable ,you can see the game full screen on the tv & you use the ipad just for control

My ATV3 is connected via ethernet ,and i get 1080p on Netflix ,i have good Internet speed

Another game "metalstorm wingman" full screen on the tv and only controls on the iPad ,this is done by selecting AirPlay mirroring

Much better than gangstar rio ,i would say playable ,looks amazing full screen on the tv ,HD i think ,but theres like a second where it's jumpy ,just for a second you barely notice it
    Playable
Ok to download for mirroring, using the ipad 3 or iphone 4s as the control

Some games like GTA 3 just mirrors the ipad & you see the picture in both the tv & ipad ,it doesn't jitter & is not choppy

    Ill test more games tomorrow

    Nova 3 & others

Like i said i think i have a fast internet speed with Comcast
So everybody's experience wont be the same

Post your experiences with this ,how is it working out for you& which games did you play

doesnt mirroring use you own network, i dont think you even need internet for it to work as long as you have a wireless router

Do those games support Airplay mirroring, or are you just turning on iOS screen mirroring and sharing the screen? I've tried Airplay gaming with the standard iOS screen mirroring, and the game is very sluggish both on TV and on the iPad. That, to me, is only an option for non-action games. Games with built-in support for Airplay gaming are better, but still sluggish to play on TV.

The problem with Airplay gaming is probably more latency than bandwidth. The tiny delay introduced by sending the frame from iPad -> router -> AppleTV is enough to make controls seem very sluggish.

For instance, I played Cro-Mag Rally (on iPad2/ATV2) and while it looks ok, it's impossible to play well. If I play by looking at the iPad screen instead while playing, I can instantly play much better.

The one thing I'd love to try (but can't on my old iPhone 3G) is to setup a wireless hotspot, and connect the ATV to that. Then, try Airplay gaming on that phone. That should eliminate one 'hop' (iPhone -> ATV, instead of iPhone -> router -> ATV) in the connection so could reduce the latency greatly.

I think his comment was that you posted twice that you have "fast internet" which honestly wouldn't matter when using Airplay or Airplay mirroring because the only thing matters is how fast your internal network is (i.e. wifi router/access points).... the internet portion is unused since the data is transferred within your home network. You could have a DS3 to your house, but only have 802.11g wifi connection and utterly fail in Airplay because your internal network is all that matters.

thanks thats exactly what i meant, he keep saying about Comcast this and Comcast that, you really dont even need an internet suscrption to make Airplay work
