Title may not be the most clear, but is there a way to play random songs on your iPhone or iPad through the music.app without automatically downloading songs not local to the device?

I know this will work when I turn off "Show all songs," and I guess I can do that after making sure the song(s) I want are on my local device, but it is a PITA if I just want to play some songs (or more importantly, the wife is using my device and she starts complaining how slow it is to play songs). 🙁

Best suggestion I can give you is to turn off "show all songs" and then create a playlist of all songs on your device (call it "Local" or whatever). Then you can turn "show all songs" back on and just play from that local playlist. Not the most ideal, but a workaround until Apple figures itself out.
