Hello,

I receive a lot of BS from friends through Whatsapp and sometimes I'm caught up playing a normal video but with a loud porn sound to make me embarrassed in public. The trivial solution is plugging headphones, or decreasing volume as fast as possible, but I'd like to find another solution, perhaps binding app volume to the physical lock switch on iphones... don't know... I'd like to play videos silently at the start, without needing do start playing to get access to video playing volume.

Is that possible?

Thanks in advance!

You should be able to use the volume buttons on the side to lower the volume before you start playing a video. You should also be able to do that using volume controls in the Control Center.

Settings -> Sounds -> “Change With Buttons” turn that off.

This separates your ringer / notifications alert sounds, from your sounds coming from music, videos, etc

Test this out. I’m not sure if this will solve your issue.
