It's one aspect of the site I never took advantage of - server side transcoding, particularly useful if you're stuck on one OS9 machine.

It‘s quite handy if you desire better quality video than the defaults that are supplied (by this, I mean the 320x240 that free users can convert, download, and play in OS 9), and fun to play around with. I figured out that the maximum resolution that is playable on my 1.42ghz Mini is 1200x600 with 128kbps audio without stuttering or crashing OS 9. I tried to up the memory in QuickTime but that had no effect on more resource-intensive videos.

All of this is based on the site experiences. There may be other options I’m sure, but I’m just a novice at this stuff.

I was nudging 720P on my old 667Mhz TiBook:

I'm pretty sure I never got such good results again even on better hardware...something was missing from the recipe ;)

How did you do that under OS 9 ?

Looks like video.2yxa.mobi has been hit by ludicrous sanctions...I'm sure Putin's war machine will be crippled by vintage PowerPC users being unable to contribute $1 for easy Youtube access :/

Classilla 9.4.3 is known to have problems - 9.3.3 is what was used here.

Using QuickTime 6.0.3 - just tried it and all working here, after processing the video as mp4 (320x240) clicking on it opens and plays the video in another Classilla tab, clicking download asks me where to save the file - after downloading plays in QuickTime.

Since I'm unable to pay for another month for custom conversions on 2yxa, I scrolled further down and did a 800x600/30fps/192kbps video rate/128kbps audio conversion, then clicked Download once it was ready. With this format, the video will play in Classilla at 800x600 rather than 320x240 with the parameters I listed. I tried 1024x768 but got an error, so it's limited. The same video is a tad choppy on my 800mhz iBook G3, but plays full speed on my 1.42ghz Mini running unsupported OS 9. I'm sure if I messed with a few of the parameters that I would get better playback on a lesser machine. I was also running the browser under Classic in Jaguar, so that may have affected the speed as well.
