Playlists and Add to Music

hi all,

Can anybody just confirm if I am missing something please?

if I add a song to one of my playlists in Apple music, it seems that the song automatically gets added to my music library. I don't want this to happen.

So is it that this is supposed to happen?
For some context, I have added numerous songs to a playlist for a family event that I wouldn't otherwise listen to and now these tracks are in my music library, do I need to manually remove these from my music?
