Wonderful site!
So is your Vita from the US, or are some games region free now?

Euro Vita here, however All Vita games are region free :)

However!!! In case of some titles the online part can be affected. I couldn't activate my online portion of the Hot Shot's Golf (it has an online pass) because there is no reference to it on Euro store, where we have Everybody's Golf.

That's the only title I've had the problem with. So for safety avoid games with lots of multiplayer, but Gravity Rush should be same game as Euro version and as ts mostly single player it's not an issue, plus it's €20 cheaper from PlanetAxel :)

Whoa whoa whoaaaa, Vita games are region free? For the longest time I tonight they were region locked!
Honestly I had no idea, and I'm making a Vita game too!

My trip to E3 could have been more fruitful. Damn!

It is an issue if you want the DLC. Since DLC is also region locked just like online passes if you import the game and play it on a UK account you won't be able to get the DLC. Regards online its only an issue if the game is associated with a separate online pass. All of the first party games as well as EA games that have any kind of online functionality are affected. I think there are one or two other third party games that are as well.

Gravity Rush has DLC the first of which was included as a preorder bonus from certain retailers. It's mainly different costumes for the main character Kat but still kind of nice to have. I got my Gravity Rush from Asda for £25 for that reason. Asda"s price is slightly cheaper and also includes free shipping like Planet Axel. Plus you can get all the DLC if you want.

The games are all region free but all DLC is region locked as are the online passes required for certain games. Some single player games have DLC which you couldn't get if you imported the games.

That's a good price too. Do you know if Asda ship outside of UK by chance ?

I'm not really sure to be honest as this is the first time I've ordered from them. I believe they deliver anywhere within the UK including the various islands as well as Northern Ireland. Outside the mainland takes a little longer. They don't deliver to the Channel Islands or British Forces posted abroad though so I doubt they deliver anywhere else in the world.

Edit: Their price has now gone up to £29.97 anyway. It looks like the £25 price was for preorders only. It's also out of stock at the moment.

I'm logging some serious hours into Metal Gear Solid HD and Gravity Rush. Most of the time I'm collecting those rubies in GR but its so fun and the whole game is just charming. If I had a fault with it then the power slide controls don't work for me and I try to avoid it at every turn.

MGS is the game I loved back in the PS2 days and that hasnt changed...I'm on the big shell incident and its still good fun but one thing that annoys me is rose and jacks conversation....I don't care about there "special day"...stop interrupting me damn it!:D

Anybody buying the lego batman game for the vita....I'm kinda interested.

no and I refuse to buy it on the Vita after being burned with Lego Harry Potter 5-7 on Vita.

A game I paid €45 for thinking it would be based on the PS3/360 version at least. Turned out it was just a higher res version of the 3DS title. Lazy ass port.

Then when the iPad / iPhone version came out about a month after for €3.99 and it is pretty much identical to the vita version (in fact it looked better than on the vita running at higher res than the vita), it was salt being rubbed into the wound.

I've seen footage of the Batman on Vita and once again it's based on the DS/3DS version.

Because of that I'll be picking up the PS3 version which looks considerably better. I love the Lego games, but lazy ass versions can go and die ! ;)

Did TT handle the port? I'll be seeing a bunch of them next week, I'll pass along your views ;).

I cancelled my Gravity Rush preorder. I had a little play at E3 and wasn't overwhelmed enough to pay full price for it. It's gonna be one of those games that I skipped out on at launch and buy years down the line, wondering why I was such an idiot, isn't it ?

Dunno about other regions but we get Wipeout HD and Fury DLC for the Vita tomorrow.

Thankfully I'm not resurrecting this thread from that long ago, but I've been researching the Vita more and more after messing around with my PSP 3000 the other day. One thing occurred to me after I found out Sony switched the memory cards again. Why hasn't anyone put an injunction on Sony for switching up hardware compatibility on it's own products? I mean this in regards to the rule that all cell phone's now have to be able to be charged via a USB adaptor. They should make a ruling for some sort of standard on memory cards changing, especially within your own product line.

Anyway, I'm looking into getting one hopefully, but I'm debating whether I should wait for the inevitable slim design as an early reply stated or just a general price drop at the end of the first year. Right now, I'm happy with the PSP and my iPhone/iPad games so they should tide me over until either of those scenarios happen.

I heard one reviewer say it wasn't as easily portable as the original PSP, saying it was bulkier/longer and wasn't as easy to get into some pockets? Does that stop any of you current owners from taking your PSP out with you?

I carry mine everywhere, it fits easily into a pocket or my purse. As to the injunction idea, that only really works when dealing with an industry (re: charging cables), individual companies can dictate their own system and peripheral designs. It would be like expecting an injunction because you can't use your PS2 controllers on a PS3 natively. Yeah, it's a pain in the ass, and the Vita memory is more expensive than the PSP was. Tho I found the Vita's access to its memory card noticeably faster than my old PSP, but that could just be the CPU difference.

Ah, I never took any sort of law or real business classes so I was clueless on that aspect. I guess it's just easier to complain about buying more crap all over again. haha.

I didn't think it looked that much bigger, maybe a bit thicker, but it appears it would fit easily into any cargo pockets on my shorts and with a good case, I'd have no problems tossing in my backpack without even thinking about it. Thanks for the reply!

PSP memory cards would have taken up too much valuable space inside the Vita. I didn't really mind having to buy a memory card for the Vita, they aren't that much extra on top of what you pay for the vita. Though I have noticed by reading various forums and comments that people claim to be holding off buying a Vita because they don't want to pay extra for a memory card. Sony should put together a decent bundle, like when the PSP launched, the "Value Pack" was a really ace idea, with a nice pouch and lanyard etc.

With regard to a price drop, not this year! - http://uk.gamespot.com/news/sony-no-ps-vita-price-cut-this-year-6391930

And the inevitabe slim Vita will not come out anytime soon if history is anything to go by. Maybe in a couple of years.

There's several bundles that include memory cards;

Console bundles; Some retailer exclusives, Madden bundle, Assassin's Creed Bundle (October... and the Vita is white!)

Accessory bundles; I know sony does one that's a vita case, game case, ear buds and a memory card

People put the original PSP in pockets? I only ever carried mine in bags. The weight is more striking than the size but it's still easy to transport.

It's a great machine but I don't see how they could improve the device for a Slim update, short of making it weigh less. The screen takes up most of the device already. Improved battery life and larger analogue sticks would be great. I think it'll be a while before we see a new model but I reckon we'll see a price drop before Christmas. Shops in the UK have already lowered the price a bit (along with the 3DS XL).

I understand that retailers are doing bundles, I am talking about Sony doing a bundle with the memory card and other accessories in the box with the console (just like the PSP value pack). Then there would be a universal offer that all customers could see available to them, not just certain retailers.

Yeah, and like I said, Sony has "Welcome to Vita bundles"; earbuds, case for the Vita, case for games, and a 4GB memory card for like $35.

I believe the PSP Value Pack didn't start till the PSP2000 launch, but i could be remembering wrong.

The PSP had a Value Pack version at launch.

I bought the Value Pack version on day it came out in the US (I got it at WalMart I think).

The headphones were decent - and the remote worked well. The headphones in the Vita Accessory Pack are the worst headphones ever made - they feel like dollar store quality.

Well they dont offer that in UK. And yeah, as mentikned above, value pack was avaiable day one. That picture brings back some memories. I feel nostalgic now.
