Exactly. I thought the same source.

Not gangster, but Bringing Out The Dead is also nice and dark.

Hey, it's Scorsese, after all. ;)

Wow... New Jack City was really bad. I am totally shocked at Rottentomatoes rating. Plus the whole 'new jack swing' (the urban RnB of the early 90s) aspect makes it feel somewhat dated now. But most importantly... Its a Mario Van Peebles film. His name tied with a film usually equals poo.

wow haha I leave this thread for a few days and come back to loads more goodies! I would Usually quote everyone and say thanks but theres just too many :D Though I shall when I return from work :)

Some excellent suggestions, I can't wait to see all these, love films like this! Thanks alot guys keep em all coming :D

You've got amazing gangster film suggestions, although I feel it important to suggest that GTA IV is more than just a game about a punk who moves up the ranks, its great story telling with a violent backdrop. If you're looking for great story telling and branching off of just the gangster genre may I suggest a few?

These are dark/violent:
Natural Born Killers
Delicatessen
12 Monkeys
The Killers
The Replacement Killers
Taxi Driver

Hip Hop Lifestyle:
Kids
Exit through the Gift Shop
Dark Days

Drugs:
Requiem for a Dream
Trainspotting
Scarface

I dunno if this helps/hurts just wanted to kick in my two cents;)

GTA4 is certainly just that.. it really is an amazing game, almost too film-like! The people who wrote that should make a film, I find it is truly so film-like in some parts I feel like I'm playing some sort of interactive film! Definately a game I'd recommend to anyone who likes this kinda stuff!

I've seen requiem for a dream too, one of my all time favourites - so tragic, and Jared Leto is an amazing actor.

Thanks again everyone, when I was sat there annoyed thinking 'man I love films like this, how would I ever get a list of them!?' I knew MR would have the answer :D Thanks guys, and keep 'em comin' :)
