Been using that suggestion for hours now. No downside aside from not seeing favicons in bookmarks prior to going to the site the first time each run of the app. Boo hoo. ;)

Great, great idea!

Yes, I started doing this too. Liking it much. Thanks again! :)

Glad to help out. I'm surprised more people didn't suggest this since I've know about this trick since January. Glad I spoke up :)

Interesting Safari suggestions here. It's always been extremely fast for me, but then on a G5 everything is extremely fast.

Since you're using 10.3.4 anyway, beethovengirl, you might have a look at Camino 0.8 as an alternative browser--I alternate between the two, leaning towards Camino, personally.

Safari has some advantages, but since Camino uses the Mozilla Gecko engine, it's occasionally a bit better about page rendering than Safari, and in most cases it's at least as fast--one will occasionally edge the other out, but they're close. Since it has a full Cocoa interface, it doesn't have any of the funkyness of the other Mozilla variants, either, and it's not bloated.

It did have issues under earlier versions of Panther, but as of 10.3.4 and 0.8, it has no glitches I've noticed and with my browsing habits is slightly more stable than Safari.

Just go to Reset Safari from the Safari menu. Empty that cache too.

Ta-da, fixed!

If I reset Safari, will I lose my saved passwords? Does emptying cache cause you to lose saved passwords?

Yes - if you select "Safari->Reset Safari....", it'll warn you of this and give you the chance to cancel.

I don't want to lose my saved passwords. Will emptying the cache remove my saved passwords? thanks for your help :)

No, emptying the cache should not.

It will not delete anything useful. You could do it every five minutes and never even notice if you have decent bandwidth. You don't need to do it very often - just saying that it's completely harmless.

No, I'm not a troll. I've been using Macs for over 10 years now, and I've always been a big Mac fan. However, I've recently become a bit disillusioned with my computer. First, I cannot print to the laser printers in my dorm because they require KLPR authentication, and KLPR has not been written for Mac OS X. So if I want to print on my dorm's printers, I have to convert the document to a postscript file, upload it onto my school's UNIX account, then print with lpr or psrev [if I want to print pg 2-3, for example]. This is incredibly awkward and time-consuming. I have complained to my school about this discrimination against Mac users, and they just told me it was not a priority for them to fix.

Your school has printers for students? Wha!? My school would laugh if we ever asked for something like that. We asked for 1 computer so we wouldn't have to walk 1/8 of a mile up/down a very steep hill to go to the labs and they laughed at us. 1 computer. No printer. You guys are lucky.
