Hi. I expected an issue with my current workflow and expectations have been met lol

Base unit: Macbook r12 (2016)

1. Memory card (from GoPro) into Lightning SD card adapter
2. Adapter into iPhone, download videos
3. iPhone into MacBook, import videos into Photos. (WHY CAN'T I SEE THE IPHONE AS A DRIVE?!? I DON'T WANT TO IMPORT INTO PHOTOSSSSSSSSSS!!!)

From there I can import into iMovie.

I've lost my SD card reader somewhere, hence the reason for steps 1 and 2 lol

I hate step 3

NEW WORKFLOW

1. Memory card from GoPro into USB-C card reader (off Amazon)
2. Save to the Movies folder, AVOID IMPORTING INTO PHOTOS
--2A. PREVENT VIDEOS FROM UPLOADING INTO MY ICLOUD STORAGE. lol
3. Offload video onto external scratch disk (SSD drive in USB-C enclosure.)

Improvements? Other considerations?

Make a complete copy of your SD card and its file structure instead of taking just the video off the card. Let your program recognize the card as a camera on import. I you are using FCP X, you can also make a camera archive.

I don't save to the computer at all and I don't use the Photos app either.

- Typically I insert the SD Card, either from a GoPro or other camera, into the computer.
- Create a backup onto my NAS just in case.
- Open FCPX and import the video directly into the editor (which gets stored onto my external editing drive / scratch disk), including letting FCPX place optimised files here too.
- Edit.
- Backup project to NAS.
- Share final project.
- Delete generated event files (render files, optimised files etc) to save a ton of space on my editing drive.
