If one cannot lie without being a liar, then every human being is a liar; everybody has lied at least once in their life. Therefore, how can that be seen as an insult? I think calling somebody a “liar” usually indicates that they frequently/regularly lie and it is a label of their expected behavior.
I think this is too deep in the rabbit hole. The site, to the best of it's ability, seeks for foster, civil debate. It seems telling someone to "Stop. Lying." is the antithesis of civil debate and is viewed as insults or trolling. Frankly, I agree. There are many other civil ways to express a thought of disagreement with a post.

Now in this case it seems, the debate between the two posters was less than cordial, but could have been handled better. (maybe if cooler heads prevailed)
Also, asking one to stop doing something that is quite commonplace (lying) should not be seen as an insult either.
I disagree. I don't have any expectations that an anonymous internet forum will be a cordial and safe haven for all...but lack of civility doesn't have to be tolerated.
