please help... best display resolution for editing?

What is the difference between the different scales under display resolutions? Which of the scaled resolutions are the best resolution?

The left side says "larger text" and it also says "looks like 1024 x 640".

The right side says "More space" and "looks like 1920 x 1200".

I thought the resolution is supposed to be 2880 x 1800.

What are "scaled resolutions"? And which option should I choose when calibrating my monitor for photography editing. I need to choose the best (highest) resolution.

Scaled resolution is just that, they scale your resolution 🙂.

The native resolution of your display is 2880x1880. By default it will be set to one of the other resolutions so that the UI is bigger/easier to read. If however, you want to fit more in your screen, you would move the slider to "more space".

As for which one is best, it depends on what you do and your preference. There is no "best".

You cannot set the logical resolution of you're display to 2880x1880 by standard means, that would make everything on the screen really small and Apple has decided that such option won't make much sense. The highest setting you can use is logical 1920x1200.

But no matter what logical resolution you are using, they are always displayed using the native 2880x1880 pixel grid. In modern HiDPI window systems, logical point ≠ physical pixel. It's the same as with printer DPI, really.

My answer is:
Try several of them, and choose the one that looks best to you.

This is a personal thing, and I don't think it's going to make much difference what we suggest. It's what works best for YOU.
