How do i find out whether there is a problem with my hard drive. Can i ran any tests using tools?

You can reboot and run AHT at start-up and you can run a test under Disk Utility during normal use (may need to boot from disk to repair though if it is bad). Why do you suspect something is wrong?

You can, but there aren't any particularly good ones that run on OS X. The best two I know of run in either DOS or Windows.

AHT is a piece of crap, and Disk Utility won't do any hardware diagnostics. You can use smartctl to see what the drive itself has found. If you have any reallocated sectors or any pending sectors, your hard drive is bad.
