Are you trying to use iMovie or Final Cut (Express/Pro)?
For iMovie, the process is this:
    start iMovie
plug in DV camera using Firewire
import video (click on 'import button')

What have you tried so far?

    Err you've got a $3500 camera...

Anywho, in FCP hit :apple:8 or File -> Log and Capture.

Set your in and out points, then capture.

im sure the manual would tell you...

btw, why would you get such a high end camera if you dont know how to capture? not trying to be rude, its just that is a pretty basic thing for anyone who has ever used a computer to edit video.
