so i just ordered an ipod touch from ebay and expect it this weekend, the problem is i do not know what firmware my ipod will have, could somebody please tell me how i can find out(the seller has not messaged me back)

thanks man i appreciate it, i just found out that it has the January update...does that mean i can still jailbreak it?

Yes you can jailbreak 1.1.4 with the software upgrade.

Just go to ziphone.org and download it.

Even before you put music or anything on it run ziphone and it will automatically jailbreak it and give you the software upgrade

iTunes stores the january update so you have nothing to worry about 😀
