Hi all,

I have a problem with my iPhone 11 Pro Max and obviously wanted some suggestions of what the problem could be.

Everything was working fine until a couple of days. I don’t know if this is a coincidence but I changed my Apple ID password to something longer for more security. After that (I am not if this problem even occurred before my ID password was changed or after) I went on the Apple Music app which I am subscribed too, and when I tried to listen to Beats 1 Radio, it would not play at all. My music library which consists of music that I have saved to the cloud (not downloaded) would play but Beats 1 and any of the other radio stations would not. Normally when you download an app from the Apps store, delete that same app and then try to download it again you normally see the little ‘cloud’ symbol next to the app since you have downloaded it before, however the app that I had downloaded, deleted and then gone back to would not have the cloud symbol.

I then tried restarting the phone, deleting the Apple Music app and then re-downloading it but the same problem remained where the radio on the Music App would not play. So I then tried ‘Reset all settings’ and after the reset was completed, and I went to my Apple Music app all the music that was saved to iCloud library had disappeared. The only music on my library was the only one album I have ever purchased/downloaded from iTunes, but all music saved to my iCloud was no longer there. I tried going turning ‘sync library’ from the Music settings menu on and off again but when I went back to the Music app it would just say ‘syncing library’ for a very long time, but no music would sync. So I left it over night to charge and checked my phone this morning and Beats 1 radio still won’t play, and all my music saved to iCloud still hasn’t synced back to my library.

I called Apple and spoke to a senior advisor and she suggested that I should ‘Erase all content and settings’ which we did do over the phone together and when the reset had finished and all the install finished the problem still persists and now I can’t even download apps from the Apps store. A couple of Audiobooks that I had purchased from the iBooks store are no longer there also so I basically wiped my phone for no reason. Also when you go to ‘itunes and App Stores’, click on the Apple ID name and ‘view Apple ID’, it asks me to enter my Apple ID password, when I do that it goes back to the previous page and asks me to enter my password again (it basically does not move past that).

Sorry to ramble on but does anyone know what problem could possibly be? I have never had a problem like this before and my iPhone is only like 3 months old. Do you think it is a problem with the phone itself of is there a problem with my Apple ID? The apple advisor said she would call me tomorrow to see what to do next and she mentioned something about possibly connecting the phone to itunes and completely deleting it but don’t know if s should just request for a replacement?

I'd say an Apple ID problem. The steps you've taken have removed the possibility of a phone issue.. Hopefully Apple can get things sorted out for you

What makes you think its not an phone issue?
I have no idea what can be done to fix my issue if its an Apple ID issue?

I actually think its a phone issues too because beats radio doesn't play, when I try and download an app it asks me to enter my password, you hear the sound that suggests its all good then it bounces back. Plus all my synced music has disappeared as well as purchased I books.

I think it a services issue because all the things you've described has nothing to do with the phones hardware. If all this is happening only on the Apple music app, how could it be a hardware problem? Plus you said all this started after you changed your Apple ID or at least that's when you noticed it. Try steaming music from other sources and see if it still won't work properly. Might help to narrow down the possibilities.. Being the phone is only 3 months old you can get a replacement if nothing else works... I'm just trying to give suggestions that would keep the phone in your hands, with all the stores closed down it might take awhile to get a replacement

thanks for the reply
Yeah that's true

I have just tried Spotify and the music plays no problem, the problem was with the Music App, iTunes and App Store so you may be right. I am hoping this gets resolved soon....because like you said I would haven't to the apple store and not dealt with them on the phone if I had the chance.
Plus the woman who is dealing with my issue suggested something about wiping the phone through iTunes or something, I don't see how that will help if its an apple id/icloud issue.

I know this sounds ridiculous but I might even cancel my Apple Music subscription and stick to Spotify if this all gets resolved. I know this may be bad luck on my end but I can see why many people prefer Spotify over Apple Music. I only subscribed to Apple Music because I prefer the interface and the beats radio to listen to Soulection.

Have you updated to iOS 13.4 recently? If you have maybe it's a bug in 13.4 and Apple may need to push out a bug fix. The suggestion from Apple to restore your phone using iTunes and then setup as new without using a backup is their way to try and eliminate a software issue. It's possible you have some sort of corruption in your software that carries over in your backup. Restoring as new then signing into iCloud and the rest of your services uses a pristine copy of the OS and removes the possibility of backup corruption. It's a good sign that everything works well using Spotify

I have updated to 13.4 but I was having the issues beforehand. Thanks for explaining that because I am not that clued up with Apple since I was using Samsung before switching to the pro max. If I do the iTunes restore I will not lose all my apps, data etc..?
Also do you think it could be the fact that I use an ad blocking app that has caused/causing this problem? I use the app Wipr having been recommended by someone and I was using 1blocker beforehand.

You'd have to sign in to all your apps and if the data is saved you'll get it back. Certain apps won't though, the health app is one that many say loses all data if you setup as new. Plus you'll have to go through all the little things that you customized in settings that make your phone your phone. When I've had to do it, I only used it to see if it corrected the issue I was having, if it didn't I would restore using my latest backup and the phone is back to before you restored it so all you lose is the time it takes to do it and you lose nothing. If you make an encrypted backup using iTunes and use that to restore the phone you even get passwords back. I doubt the ad blocker has anything to do with it but you could disable it and see if it changes anything...

All my passwords are saved to one password so that shouldn't be an issue should it?

I must say I am disappointed with the service I have received from Apple. I spoke to them again and the advisor passed me on to 'the 'multimedia team' and he seemed pretty clueless on my situation. He then told me to take a screen recording of the issues and he will forward it to the technical team and I would hear from them in the next 24 hours or so. Why did the first advisor not let me take a screen recording yesterday?

I understand faults/technical issues happen but it just seems they don't know what they are doing and am wondering if it will ever be resolved, if not then I should ask for my money back.

One password should work fine. Dealing with customer support can be challenging. Not all of them are good at what they do that's for sure. There are good people there though and usually a solution can be found. If it is a software problem, their hands may be tied until the next update is released. Asking for your money back for a service that isn't working properly isn't unreasonable. It would be nice if the Apple store were open at a time like this but, there's always a chance they wouldn't be able to help either

Thats true
The first woman I spoke too wasn't knowledgable at all and it seems the reset and erase all content and settings was for nothing. I don't really want to move to android (I have spent a lot on the apps store hence why I want this sorted out).
The reason why I think this was not to do with the update because I was having the issue before I updated to 13.4.
I am pretty sure this problem started after I changed my Apple ID password, then the radio on Apple Music would not play. Then when I downloaded an App, deleted it and then went to download it again I noticed the cloud symbol that is normally there when you have downloaded an app wasn't there.
I am struggling to think if this can resolved tbh because it seems complex.

it could very well be because of the AppleID change. I know Apple can ask you to install a diagnostic tool they provide in situations like this that logs all sort of information for technical teams that try to resolve issues like these. Escalating to higher levels of support is something that is necessary and hopefully you'll start getting to people that can actually help you sort this out..

Oh hopefully it gets resolved because its so frustrating! Just want my phone back so I can adjust it to how it was etc..I am just scared they may not be able to fix it.

So today I woke up and looked at my phone and everything was back! My beats radio is working, my cloud music library was all back and I can now download apps again!
I have no idea what happened but isnt that strange! I don't know if Apple themselves did something or it just fixed itself perhaps?
So I reset and erased my phone settings for no reason? Now I have to set everything up and again...

That's great news! The reset and erase all settings is a common step requested by support to try to fix issues and yes it is a pain when it's doesn't work...

I wonder what happened though
I don't want to set my phone up again by changing all the settings, putting all my cards into wallet, setting up online banking on my phone etc...for the same issue to happen again!
Did it just sort itself out or did Apple do something?

I have no idea. I would just set everything back up like you want it and use it. Keep backups current and if something goes wrong again you can figure out your next step will be..
