Please help iPhone 3G (8GB)

I hope someone can help me. I had a jailbroken iPhone which I reset and erased all data. Now the only thing that comes on is the BMW logo. I plugged it into the computer and it doesn't recognize another device. I was hoping to sell this on ebay as it was in excellent condition when I used it, but now I can't get it to do anything. I took the SIM card out, would that make a difference? In order for me to shut it off or turn it on, I have to hold the menu button and the on/off for 10 seconds, and either way all that shows up on the screen is the BMW logo. Did I just break it? i would really appreciate any advice anyone can give me..thanks

YOu need to put in in DFU mode, hold the sleep/wake button and the home button for 30 seconds. Then connect to iTunes and restore.
If you are going to sell it non-jailbroken then you are fine, do not activate.
